I just don’t understand how we’re switching screens and STILL leaving men open from 3. It makes no sense. Stop helping on Luka. Just let him get his. I don't know if I agree that we need to double Luka. I think that may be what they want teams to do: double Luka, leave somebody open for easy 3s. The Mavs surround Luka with shooters for exactly this purpose. Luka did have 33 points against us last night, but we lost because the rest of the team shot 48% on 3s. Can't allow that to happen.
My point is Monty knows better. WTF happened that they lose this bad against the Mavs? Monty’s schemes seem to play into Kidd’s plans. There was one defensive possession where they effectively cut off the swing pass to Mavs shooters where it seemed like the Suns knew better. I think we lost because Luka dropped 33 AND the others went off. I kind of prefer single-coverage on Luka and staying really tight on all the shooters. I think how our defense gets pulled out of sorts is when guys are halfheartedly trying to help swipe their hands at Luka as he runs by, then losing track of their own man. But I admit that I may just be wrong about this.
