Hindsight is 20/20. Most everyone was onboard with moving off Monty, CP, Cam and Mikal. Ishbia was probably the main catalyst in making it all happen as a new owner. Jones still gets a ton of heat but I think he's weathered a few storms pretty well. Can't really blame him for this current mess.
I think people wanted to move off Ayton and Monty, and there was the feeling that CP could go because of his contract, but I don't think anyone was looking to unload Briges and Johnson.

Trading for Beal was the biggest mistake. They already had Booker at his position and that gave them three main players who were offensive-minded (although Durant is a good defensive player). Add to that a lack of quality big men and you have a situation where no coach is going to coax this team into being good defensively.
Our biggest mistake was not trading DA before he signed his max offer from Indiana. Could've gotten so much more for him.

It is fun to think about what we possibly could’ve done if we kept Booker/Mikal together(With Mikal making the leap he made in Brooklyn), then did whatever else with CamJ/DA/CP3 and all of our 1sts…could we have just traded for Dame? Maybe we just get Jrue instead of Boston.

Jrue/Booker/Mikal/CamJ plus fill in your C would’ve been fun.

I bet ABC / ESPN is scrambling to get us removed from the Christmas day lineup at this rate. What a 3rd quarter meltdown.
Ugh…. I don’t even want to watch this shit show on Christmas. We’re far beyond a Christmas miracle at this point.
No we’re not. It’s entirely possible that someone on the team will discover an abandoned greyhound when they’re leaving the arena after a blowout loss.

The greyhound will take pity on the helpless Suns, and adopt them as pets.

I never liked how much we gave up to get KD. As much as KD is clearly our best player this year, the assets we lost to get him have crippled the team and now we are screwed for a decade to come unless we execute a savvy rebuild.
Actually, fact-checking myself here. I went back through our old thread from when we first got KD. I did fret a bit about the amount we gave up, but, my two biggest takes were:

- I was *glad* that it was Mikal in the trade and not Ayton (wow, that take has aged like milk)
- I thought that the trade took us from "zero chance to win a title in the next 1-2 years" to "chance to win a title in the next 1-2 years" and therefore I was excited

I said things like "WOW" and "HOLY COW" in my posts. I was clearly hyped. Oh well; it was hard not to be.

As the 3rd option. He averaged 21 a game in Brooklyn. The most he averaged during a full season in Phoenix was 14

No I don’t care about Knicks fans. They also gave up a bunch for him…not his fault they treated him like he was KD when they traded for him. He’s still a good player and more importantly to this discussion, a likable player to cheer for.

Well they expected a two way star who was dropping 25/5/5.

They got Phoenix Mikal, who is a great role player but not a star.

So there are two different discussions. He's very likable as a role player but that Bridges we saw right after he was traded to BKN was a hot streak and not a sudden rise in development
