Part 2
Grayson & Royce trade targets (in descending salary order)

Grayson-only candidates:
PJ Washington
Obi Toppin
Kelly Olynyk (meh)

Grayson or Royce:
Derrick Jones Jr
Caleb Martin
Simone Fontecchio
Ousmane Dieng
Jarace Walker
Dean Wade
I don't know why Indy would trade Obi, but he would fit in really well with what we've done so far.

Think it's too late for Obi now, wanted us to snag him on his way out of NY.

I like some of those players, but why trade Grayson or Royce for another swing/SF? Isn't the problem that we have too many of those? Or are you thinking we'd also get a pick in the deal?

I was looking at Royce for Fontecchio yesterday. Saves us a bit of money, he's an ending contract and even tho he's more of a SF he played PF a bunch the past few years. I think Royce would fit in well in Detroit if they're open to taking on the longer contract. Good veteran presence, some toughness and shooting.

Every one of these moves would get us closer to dipping below the second apron.

I just don't see why Indiana would do it.

Add shooting and free up time for Walker is why I'd do it if it were Indiana.

I hope you're right, it would be great for us. One more decent PG and PF on the roster and I'll feel really good going into next season. I already feel pretty good as it is but it would be nice if we could trade our redundant pieces for positions of need.

With Lopez as a UFA, Milwaukee might be interested in Richards. They have a $7 million trade exception and could just send second rounders to us in return.

The only teams with exceptions big enough to take on Grayson Allen's contract ($16.875 million) are Atlanta ($25 million exception), Brooklyn ($23.3 million), and Chicago ($17 million)

Those teams could also take on Royce O'Neale's copntract ($10.125 million) as could Sacramento ($16.38 million), Dallas ($11 million), New Orleans ($13 million) and Miami ($16.07 million).

Atlanta actually has a second exception for $13.1 milion and could take on both of them.

Trading Allen or a combination of Richards and O'Neal and not taking back any salary would get the Suns under the 2nd apron.

Yeah - this, plus they lost some backcourt depth next season with Hali out.

Looks like Cole Anthony will be available. I'm sure the Suns can't match offers from other teams, but I'd like him if they can figure it out.

I thought I read somewhere Detroit had a bunch of cap space too but I have no idea where to verify that. But maybe exceptions and cap space are two different things ;-)
