Those clips of KD make clear that he was thinking only of himself, and trying to tank his own trade value and refuse "good" (for the Suns) trades so that whatever team he went to would not have a bare cupboard. I watch those clips and see a spoiled and entitled brat who doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut. Shouldn't talk like that about your current team straight to a camera. I will be hate-watching Houston this season hoping to see them get worse with KD.

And OKC feels abandoned by him. But they were better in the end for it.

Villain Jr reveal!

Suns guard Collin Gillespie on Dillon Brooks' 'villain' switch: “He’s nuts. He’s a guy that you hate to play against and love when he’s on your team. If you don’t know him, you probably think that he’s crazy, but he’s super chill off the court and then once he’s between the lines, it’s like, he has that ‘villain’ he’s got going and it’s like a switch inside his head. He’s a different person.”

Butler cut despite a strong offensive showing in the preseason. I think we made the right choice; Goodwin has been a better overall player if you consider both ends of the floor.

I don’t mind choosing Goodwin over Butler, but we didn’t have to choose. Neither were guaranteed till January and we had the roster spot…this is 100% a tax evading move…lame

You guys didn't post anything showing Butler had been cut.

I thought Butler deserved to stick around as a Sun. Ah well.

I did too but I can understand that they may have left that last roster spot open for a big. We already have a glut of guards with Book, Green, Allen, O'Neale, Gillespie, and Goodwin.

I like Goodwin and for that last spot and am ok with letting Butler go.
Correct choice I think.

I think if defense and hustle plays are going to be our calling card than Goodwin was the obvious choice. You can mix and match him with anyone else in the backcourt if need be, more so than Butler.

Butler was a capable scorer, but he had a bit too much of a me-first, shoot-first mentality for my tastes. That's not really what we need. As others have said, this seems to have been a tax move; after cutting Butler and David Duke, we are now around $260k under the luxury tax threshold, which is crucial in order to reset certain repeater penalties. So I think it was worth it to cut him. I hope he finds another team or that we can bring him back sometime in the future.
