I know it super early but the “it’s going to be more fun this year” narrative off to a real bad start. Just more of the same but with shittier players. Lol *sigh*
It’s just game 1 tho.
I know it super early but the “it’s going to be more fun this year” narrative is off to a real good start.
The hustle is there. I don’t know what last years team was but I don’t want to see that ever again.

He’s going the be the best center we’ve had in the Booker era.
I know single game plus/minus doesn't really mean anything, but in this case Williams being +14 on the night absolutely feels right. Was a presence in the paint defensively, moved his feet well and got pretty much every big rebound. They might have to figure out how to use him better on the other end of the court though.
That was a quiet 31 point game from Book. The missed free throws were weird and he seemed to be kind of disconnected at times, but he did hit the biggest shot of the night with that midrange to go up 4 with 35 seconds to go. Although, really - the biggest *play* of the night was LaVine's super dumb foul on Brooks shooting a 3 at the 1-minute mark. To his credit, Brooks made all the free throws, but I'd be just fine with him not taking that shot in the first place.
The team gets to spend at least a couple of days above .500 on the season. I thought that the Clips game Friday would be an automatic loss, but boy, did they look bad against Utah tonight. Maybe all of those guys will have a "past their prime" year all at the same time?

I think there’s only one conclusion to draw after that game: we’re going 82-0 this season!

Woot Woot !!
This was great just because it's most of our expectations
We know have a flawed, somewhat limited group but all we hope is that they play hard. So there we go, down 19 and looking dire but credit to the guys. It always is a good sign when a team responds in the 3rd quarter cause of adjustments
Full Brooks experience gonna be quite something nightly. He really shot too much but hey he "did his thing".....
Happy with CG
Williams was so solid and as others said, guess our guys not accustom for looking down low for the Center sealing his man but we surely missed him a bit. His wingspan is ridiculous, just snatches everything in his radius

Happy for new head coach Ott too. Whatever he did and said at halftime worked!

Great comeback win by the Suns. I will admit, I was nervous at first. However, the Suns continued to grit and grind their way back in the game. They limited the turnovers, got aggressive and put the ball on the floor and got to the basket, and great ball movement to find open shooters for clutch 3-point shots.
Dillon Brooks was, well....... Dillon Brooks. To see him get in Demar DeRozan's face made me blush. He's the guy I couldn't stand, but he's on my team now so it's all good.
Oh, well. Off to L.A. to see the Clippers, who got embarrassed by Utah tonight. They're definitely going to want to bounce back and play a better game.
Go Suns !!

Man that was a cool comeback.
Was hard to watch Brook shooting like he was Kobe Bryant out there... and we missed too much in the first half.
But Book was instrumental to that comeback he just got that grit and was driving hard to the hoop, imagine having 3 and 1's in 3 plays (and missing all 3FTs!)
Nick looked good in his minutes, and Oso also looked better than his box score... I think there was a stretch where he played alongside Williams so that was fun to see.
I bet the season over before the match so hoping we have a good one

Nice comeback, feel much better because if we'd have gotten blown out by the Kings it would've been a real bad sign. First half, maybe some 1st game jitters but we just didn't look good on either end. A lot of standing around, a ton of missed shots while the Kings were hitting everything. Seemed like everything we did in preseason went out the window. When I was watching the 1st half, it felt like the Lakers game in preseason where it was a little fluky all the shots being made. They cooled off in the 3rd quarter and we thankfully found our rhythm.
While we played hard throughout the game, we weren't necessary playing smart on defense letting Monk, DD and Lavine get their shots. They were just getting to their spots and getting really easy looks. Those adjustments need to be made sooner in the game. Sometimes guys are hot but we also allowed them to get hot. I also didn't think we did a good enough job featuring Book when we needed offense early on. The shots just kept going to Brooks, Allen, Dunn, Royce. Part of that was the Kings' defense but we still need to get him shots and exploit mismatches against guys like Schroder and Monk. And if the jumpers aren't falling, let's work inside with Williams, Richards and Oso for some easier looks.
Good showing from Williams who made an impact in the paint. He's a presence, can finish plays, change shots and grab rebounds or at least keep them alive. Great job by Dunn on the boards. He grabbed 10 and he usually isn't a factor there. CG helped change the game running things, getting guys shots and making a lot of tough ones himself. Not sure if he's starter quality but I wish we could give him a look. Our starting backcourt of Book and Allen had 10 TOs. Royce hit some big shots in the 2nd half that helped get us back into the game. Brooks started the game off cold, but that's how he is. Super streaky and while they weren't terrible looks, it really put us in a hole. We can't have him taking 20+ shots just because we don't have other scoring threats.
Gotta figure out the PF spot. We're too small with CG, Allen, Brooks, Royce on the floor at the same time. NHD ain't it and Fleming probably isn't ready. Still think Oso should see some time there despite his lack of jumper. The Kings don't have a lot of size up front either but we're going to really struggle against bigger teams.

Wild ride of a game. We def have a lot of growing to do, but I'm not over worried. Book always starts the season slow, this was Williams' first game and we are missing Green. I expect Williams in the starting lineup on Friday.
CG was good all game. He's in that "fan-favorite" role where his play makes a bigger impact on how the game feels that it probably does on the box score. He had one great assist in the first half where he casually grabbed the ball at the FT line and slung it to Allen for a three. Simple play, but that's the court awareness we need more of.
Man, I hope Williams can stay healthy.
Oso wasn't aggressive enough. He's got to be in constant attack mode out there no matter who else is on the court.
Allen and O'Neale with a combined 65 minutes is NOT what we want from a young, growing team. But, hey, we got the win with Green out.

Allen and Royce need to fill those minutes right now. Green will play 30 when he gets back which will cut into their time but it's not like Brea is being forced out of the rotation. Dunn played 24, would like to see him bumped up there a bit more especially since DD and Lavine were going off. Also thought Goodwin might've been a good defender to throw out for a few minutes to see if he could disrupt Monk or DD while they were hot.

I get it with the minutes, but would have liked to see Fleming get some burn and move Dunn/Brooks out of the PF position and onto DD and Lavine. It's not a big deal, and maybe Fleming just isn't ready. The two vets are kind of my biggest fear about this team. They are defiantly good enough to earn the minutes, but that might not be what's best for us long term.
