Deal talks are far enough along that Fultz could be on his way to Philadelphia for a meeting Saturday, sources say.
Boston would acquire Sixers No. 3 overall pick in 2017 and package to include future first from Sixers, sources say.

I am also very sceptical about his value given the multitude of promising PGs in the upcoming draft but who knows, maybe Orlando is still interested.In2ition wrote:Teams that need a high end pg that don't want to wait for a young guy to mature and are already a playoff caliber team or are in a win now mode. Here is the most promising snippet from an old Zach Lowe article on the issue of finding a potential trade candidate for him:
[...] All of this would seem to make Bledsoe an intriguing trade candidate as the deadline approaches in three weeks. (Nobody wants Brandon Knight, by the way.) It's just hard to find a good fit. [...]

Very good/interesting question. Maybe Ainge likes a few players and just thinks he is getting better overall value with a trade. Especially if Philly wants it bad and is willing to overpay.Mori Chu wrote:If true, who does Boston want at #3?bajanguy008 wrote:Adrian WojnarowskiVerified account @WojVerticalNBA 3m ago

I guess this means Boston is rather in the hunt for a wing than a Thomas replacement ...

I think Boston takes Jackson. Outside chance they covet Tatum.

Whomever they want, they seem to think that their guy will still be there at #3. I can only imagine that McD hates this kind of development. His old buddy Danny Ainge moving closer to our spot cannot be good news. I fear Philly's preferences at #3 would have been a lot more favorable for us than Boston's. Yikes!
Maybe Boston likes Tatum or Isaac? I guess we will see ...

Re: 2017 Suns NBA Draft (4th, 32nd, 54th)
We determined he was about the 11th ranked pg in the league. He's 27, so at the start of his prime and signed to a very friendly contract. I think any team trying to win games that doesn't have one of the 10 pg's better than him would be interested to a degree. Maybe take away the teams with similarly rated pg's like Miami with Dragic, charlotte with Kamba or New Orleans with Holiday. Although Holiday is a free agent as is Lowry and CP3. I think you'd see at least 5 or 6 teams legitimately interested in him.
Denver - They're ready to start winning games and don't really have a long term pg
Dallas - They're not built to contend, but still built to win now with dirk, Barnes, and Matthews
Toronto - Only if Lowry leaves, although they may choose to tear it down in that case.
Minny - Thibs has been looking for a vet and does not seem happy with Rubio.
Clippers - Only if CP3 leaves
Indiana - Upgrade to Teague to try and convince PG13 to stay
Milwaukee - Would fit great next to Antentekounmpo
Philly - If they don't get Fultz, he'd be a good pg to play with Simmons
Chicago - he's better than rondo and essentislly the same age as Butler
Detroit - Major upgrade to Reggie Jackson

Ya, I think we would have loved philly taking Monk at 3 or moving the pick to someone who would take fox.Bruiser wrote:Oh boy.Split T wrote:I think Boston takes Jackson. Outside chance they covet Tatum.

My guess at our front office big board would go something like this:
1. Ball - every indication is we prefer him to Fultz
2. Fultz - no idea how we feel about him, but it doesn't matter as he won't be available
3. Jackson
4. Isaac
5. Tatum
I don't feel very confident about 3-5 though, it wouldn't surprise me in the least to see any one of those three as our top guy after ball.
Boston seems very likely to pick one of those 3, hopefully not the one we have highest on our board.

Isn't it pretty rare that the #1 pick gets traded anyway?

Andrew Wiggins for Kevin Love most recently.

Ya, that's the only recent one I can think of and happened a few weeks after the draft when Lebron signed. Not sure trading back from #1 to collect assets has ever been done.

Orlando traded #1 Chris Webber to GS for #3 Penny Hardaway and future picks.Split T wrote:Ya, that's the only recent one I can think of and happened a few weeks after the draft when Lebron signed. Not sure trading back from #1 to collect assets has ever been done.
Boston traded #1 Joe Barry Carroll to GS for #3 Kevin McHale and Robert Parish.

I won't be holding my breath though.

Re: 2017 Suns NBA Draft (4th, 32nd, 54th)
The trade would shake up the draft and I would kinda like it for both teams. There is talk Boston may add the unprotected lakers pick, #3, AND another 1st from Philly. That's a freakin haul in a draft where there isn't a consensus #1 (like a LBJ or Anthony Davis) IMO. Philly's dynamics change drastically if they add a guard to that young core. My friend goes on and on about Simmions running the point, but putting Ball or more probable Fultz there and running out a lineup of
PG: Fultz
SG: Leuawake
SF: Simmons
PF: Saric
C: Embid
6th man: Covington
7th man: Holmes
Might be the best young core in the League. If they didn't bungle the Noel situation they'd be in an even better position.
I don't think it changes the Suns osition much. I still think Futz-Jackson-Ball go in some order ahead of. Personally I think the Celtics like Jackson better then Fultz and will take him 3rd. Suns will draft from Issac,Fox,Tatum or trade down.

My early prediction is this goes through and The Sixers take Fultz the Celtics land Jackson and then use 1 or both of the sixer picks to trade or a S/T for a guy like Blake Griffin. I think Ainge is looking at it as amo.
