I don’t necessarily disagree with you guys…but at this point we haven’t had a chance to rebuild the roster…the draft is the only thing that’s happened. You guys can doom already if you want, but I’ll wait until we actually see what the roster they put out there looks like.

There's only so many roster spots. And taking our same core rotation and swapping Kris Dunn for EG is not going to change anything for me.

A meta-argument for bringing some of these guys back is, it shows other free agents this offseason that we take care of our guys. If you sign here, even for the minimum, we'll do everything we can to keep you around and even give you more money that we don't strictly need to give you. I think that's a good look for us overall especially when we had about 15-20 years of cheap-ass moves that players and agents could all see us making, nickel-and-diming players and letting players walk because of money.
A lot of players around the league seem to be opting out and re-signing with their clubs for a bit more money. I don't think we're doing anything differently nor do I think it'll make a difference in the long run. Younger middling players will try and get the most money possible, older vets want a chance to compete for a title. No one cared about Sarver in 2019 and 2020 when we were turning it around and on the rise. Rubio signed here, Oubre re-upped, then CP angled to come here and Crowder left Miami (albeit for more money). If we're winning, players will come. If it becomes a toxic situation and everything breaks down, players will avoid us unless we're trading for them or overpaying them to come.

Well I don’t know what you expect out of vet min free agent signings…they aren’t getting Paul George on a minimum. Trades are going to be the only way for this team to significantly add to the roster…and right now they don’t even have many players they can trade. It’s going to have to be a process that won’t see the final result until the trade deadline.

I mean really I expect/wished we would trade one of the mid 3 to get some flexibility. But that's not going to happen. So I guess I will just hope something materializes before the deadline

Fair enough…I was tempted by KD to the Rockets…but I get Ishbia not wanting to give up yet…deadline or next summer if we fail again will see big changes.

Grayson Allen can't be traded until Oct. 24
Royce O'Neal can't be traded until Dec. 15
Jusuf Nurkic is the only one of the three who they could trade, but then they'd have to get somebody back who can start at center.

Their best choice for trade would be Nassir Little ($6,750,000) but they can't take back any additional salary or combine him with another player. You'd have to attach draft choices in order to get any quality in return.

Long shot but I was playing with a Beal to the Lakers for a bunch of their pieces.

First he's have to agree to waive his no trade, then what pieces? To match the $50 million he's going to make it would take something like Reaves ($13 M), Hachimura ($17 M), Vincent ($11 M) and Vanderbilt ($11 M), and the Lakers aren't going to do that.

I think it was Hachimura, VIncent, Vandy and Hood-Schifino.

Which is pretty underwhelming.

Vanderbilt would solve a lot of problems for us defensively. Gabe and Rui don’t have me too excited.

I think for this roster, there’s no way we can start another guard next to Beal/Booker. We give up too much size when KD is the 4 with 3 guards, none of whom are bonafide POA defenders (Booker holds his own in the post season).

A big wing would be incredibly valuable to this roster, especially a guy like Vandy who is switchable to the perimeter. If you could find a guy like him, Draymond, Jonathan Issac in a Beal trade I think it could really correct our redundancy and deficits in one shot.

Think we’re gonna have to rely on Ryan Dunn being that guy

It was more about finding a landing spot for Beal where he'd OK a trad and we could break the contract up with decent roleplayers who could potentially be flipped later on. I've always liked Hachimura and he can add shooting, Vandy for defense and Vincent can run some point and score off the ball like he did in Miami. Not a great deal, but I just don't think we're going anywhere with Beal anyway.

I’d take CP3 back…but Kris Dunn would be better. I’m also good with Monte Morris…kinda feel like it’s gonna be Morris

Morris is probably the best option, definitely the best offensive player and doesn't turn it over, which is something the 2 unit definitely needs. CP3 is a corpse, not even considering him.

Yes we do…for Lee as well.
Then why are people saying we can only offer slightly above the vet min?
