Amazed we haven't retired the number for Mustaf.

You're on a roll tonight. He paid to have his pregnant girlfriend "retired." The only numbers you get for that go on an orange jumpsuit. Except in this case, he got away with it. Funny how his Wikipedia page doesn't say anything about it.

You guys are awesome.

Chriss wore 0 in college, so it makes sense that he still wants it.
Duds was only #3 with us. He has also worn 4, 9, and 1 as a pro.

Since Rex Chapman, it seems like we always have a debatable impact player wearing #3. I have a lot of mixed feeling about this group.

Bender
Knight
Isaiah Thomas
Ish Smith (OK, not much debate here)
Dudley
Boris
Q Rich
Marbury
2000-2001 nobody wore #3
Chapman
Nobody

Good way to use our excess cap room: front load the contracts.

Yes, but they are still subject to cap rate. He wasn't our FA so they can only go down I believe 4.5%? Idk. It'll look something close to $11M, $10M, $9M but not exactly that.

There's a limit to how much you can front load, at least as far as the cap hit is concerned, but it still makes sense to do it as much as we can.

Suns will embrace youth, hold cap space: http://www.azcentral.com/story/sports/n ... 8bfb254622

This means we're done spending, y'all.
With more than $17 million of salary-cap space once the three rookie contracts are signed later this week, the Suns’ only additional spending could be moves like re-signing point guard Ronnie Price and/or adding a bigger wing player. Phoenix could draw inspiration from Portland, another young team led by guards that had success while maintaining salary-cap space, and how past NBA teams ascended from bottoming out by drafting well.

The Suns do not have much roster room with 14 players under contract for next season once Dragan Bender, Marquese Chriss and Tyler Ulis sign. There is flexibility with John Jenkins, whose contract does not become guaranteed unless he is on the roster on July 11, and Alan Williams, whose contract becomes guaranteed Sept. 1.

Bender and Chriss are slotted into four-year contracts with two guaranteed years and two team option years. Ulis, as a second-round pick, is not guaranteed that, but the Suns will give Ulis the equivalent of a late first-round pick’s contract, which would start at about $1 million and have the same two guaranteed years with two team option years.

I like the balance of the current roster although it's still a little heavy at guard. It's not really looking like we have room for Price. Although he's probably a better fit than Archie but I don't think he's going anywhere.

There's a couple of small moves I'd have like made. I want Tucker off the team or glued to the bench. I just have no interest in watching him play. I don't know what Chandler we're going to get. If it's the one from the first half of last season then I want him gone too. I'd be interested in that rumored Tucker & Chandler for Kanter swap. I don't want Price back. I think Bledsoe > Knight > Ulis is plenty depth and if we have an injury then we can sign someone. Heck, Price might still be out there but you can always snatch up a Seth Curry or someone.

There were times when we played Price, Tucker, and Chandler at the same time. You can't win games playing 3 negatives on offense. You can hide one and sometimes two. Hopefully that won't be a problem this year.

I still would want to add some size at the four, by trading Tucker, adding Goodwin if the deal is worth it.

indeed I thought we would add a legit 4 short term to show the pups the ropes. I like Dudley but still can't picture him starting at 4 all year round.

I do wonder if they are considering trying A Bennett at all (not in a mentor role of course), since one of our assistants is his national coach and he seems to be playing well for the national team. He appears to have gotten himself into respectable shape. I know he has been a shit show in the NBA so far. Both the Nets and Knicks seem be considering him.

No thanks to Bennet.

No thanks to Kanter unless we move Len.

I'd still like to see a deal that moves one of our guards, but I'd rather see no deal than a bad one. I would love Ronnie price back.

I definitely don't love going into the season with just Dudley at the 4. Just doesn't sit well with me unless we're committed to giving minutes to Chriss and Bender throughout the year; and even then, who knows if they're ready. We still have Len, but does he come off the bench? Do we want to keep playing him at the 4?

I know we're not going to get, nor are really looking for, a gamechanger. We're not looking to tank either if we're planning on starting the year with Bledsoe, Knight and Chandler. I almost liked the idea of Derrick Williams because I think he'd be a good fit here and would help us compete. Doesn't seem to be an option now.

I'm also uneasy about our center situation. History suggests that we're not likely to get full seasons out of Chandler and Len. What do we do at center when one of them is unavailable? Williams? Dudley?

Williams isn't a bad option for short stretches. He played very well in his limited minutes last season.

Gotta love his pro-rated stats, that's for sure. 20.1 reb and 7.4 fta per 36 minutes.
