If the experiment worked out and we wanted to retain him, we would’ve had enough cap room (or could’ve easily created enough by waiving Knight or Warren) next summer to sign him to a max contract.MightyMoog wrote: ↑Tue Jul 03, 2018 11:45 pmCousins only makes sense in GS. If a team like the Suns were to sign him, they'd only have him for 1 year. Because we'd still need cap room next year to be able to retain him. Zach Lowe explains this on his podcast really well. He needed a team that had a open roster spot for a center that would be good and really only cared about next year. His other option would have been Houston, but he wasn't going to start over Capela. Boston maybe? But again not starting over Horford.

Yes, but we just drafted the center of our future in Ayton. That’s like signing IT the year after our PG was named to an all nba team.

So I imagine they aren't to close to an agreement.

Dreaming is free. To be fair, I dont think LA is giving up that much as far as players go, all replaceable. I know everyone loves Kuzma, but I don't get it, he's ok, but man you listen to people talk about him like he's a top 10 player.

I think he could’ve worked as a stretch 4 next to Ayton. “Twin Towers 2.0”MightyMoog wrote: ↑Wed Jul 04, 2018 9:05 amJeremyG wrote:If the experiment worked out and we wanted to retain him, we would’ve had enough cap room (or could’ve easily created enough by waiving Knight or Warren) next summer to sign him to a max contract.MightyMoog wrote: ↑Tue Jul 03, 2018 11:45 pmCousins only makes sense in GS. Since the Lakers have cap space, I feel like they’ll just wait until next summer to sign Leonard, and if he no longer wants to come to LA (like George), then they’ll just sign another max star instead. Plus they get to keep their young players.
That would make total sense if LeBron was a few years younger, but he is starting to get old so I don’t know about that strategy.

A Kawhi to Philly trade just makes to much sense for everyone for it not to happen.

Since he has experience with both joining a super team and never winning a championship, he’s uniquely qualified to evaluate their relative merits.
Well, not quite unique. There’s also Karl Malone and Gary Payton. LOL.
And, um, Danny Manning, if we’re being honest.
Ring chasing is nothing new. It’s just that, in the past, a lot of the ring chasers fell on their faces, so it was a lot less annoying.

Didn't Payton get a ring in Miami?Cap wrote: ↑Wed Jul 04, 2018 10:40 pmSince he has experience with both joining a super team and never winning a championship, he’s uniquely qualified to evaluate their relative merits.

Ilyasova was a real solid in season pickup for them and with him moving on, Bjelica is a decent fill in

This is about San Antonio trying to keep Kahwi. Ask for a huge amount. Tell him that is how much you value him, and no one will pay that much for you. Try to get him to say. I don't blame them.
Re: Around the League: 2018 Offseason
I wouldn't be surprised to see LA make this deal or something similar to it. Their stated goal is to win now, and I can see them sacrificing players and draft picks who don't contribute to immediate results.
