Caved? Isn't a negotiation a process where both positions move from their initial point?
Look, you want or you don't want the player. But talent is expensive. Damaged goods? We'll see. Maybe you have to learn to live with a player that misses 25+ games every year.

the suns have a more than reasonable offer. bledsoe's demands were unrealistic ( and no other team wants to overpay) the compromise would have been more palatable if the suns were offering bleds 10mil per. somewhere in the middle the two sides meet...

All I know is that I won't lose sleep over 1-2M per more than what he was supposed to take, or be worth or whatever. It basically depends on health and where the cap ends up during the next 4-5 years.

obviously not mcdo, but i already have a problem with the idea of giving this guy 12mil per because
a) his twice operated knee
b) the suns already loaded up on PGs (dragic, IT, and the forgotted one Ennis)

Although I hated how Bledsoe handled it and hated the tweets from him and LeBron after...I'm glad we got him signed.

What's the over/under on games per season averaged over the lifetime of the contract?

And if I'm not mistaken, I don't think it changes our ability to max Dragic out with a 5 year deal if needed. But, I could be wrong so someone with better knowledge of the CBA, feel free to correct me.
You can give as many 5-year deals as you want to your own free agents. You're confusing this with the stipulations regarding contract
extensions.

I was confused on this point yesterday when the initial reports came out about Bledsoe's 5 year deal - I thought 5 year deals were limited to one player per team, a la a "franchise player" type of designation or some such.....

I'll nail KJ's 1993-1994 season and say 65.

This reasoning reminds me of a line I heard in the Get Him to the Greek trailer (I didn't see the movie because I hate Russell Brand):
"Don't think of at as a threesome. Think of it as having sex with your girlfriend while someone else also has sex with your girlfriend."

Or the 92-93 at 49!
Dont believe KJ ever missed a playoff game, however.

That seems like a good number. I'd be happy if we could get the over even if just by a little bit.

We are so stacked at guard position I could see scenarios where we sit Bledsoe or Dragic for few games during the season similar to what the Spurs do.

That's a good point. We'd definitely have the ability to do that, wouldn't we. The way those guys go at it and get banged up it's good to have that flexibility.

i'm worried about our center position though after Miles.

i know it's a bit off topic, but i'm not sure that goran is a max guy... he's great and has a wonderful attitude and has thus far said all the right things and i'd pay him at least as much as bledsoe and maybe slightly more just to show that appreciation, but i wouldn't max him.

So by slightly more you mean $1M/year or $2? That's the max, right?

maybe i'm thinking the supermax (derrick rose rule?) or something, but as i recall there's one deal per team that can be tied to a percentage of the salary cap? bledsoe was eligible for 5/84, which is significantly more than 5/70... let's say we give goran 5/75, that's still a ways away from the max, right?
anyway, based on what he's been saying, i don't think goran will be making a scene with his extension. now that bledsoe has set the bar for the negotiation i imagine it might be a quick and painless one. at least i hope it is.
