No Christmas in July this year, eh...?

The "War on Christmas" continues!

Man, layoffs on Christmas. That's brutal!

Looks like he won't be a merry Christmas and won't have a happy new year!

...

eh?

On the 1st day of Christmas my GM gave to me...

... One pink slip and Shawn Marion in a tree (referencing the SpecialSauce avatar of yesteryear)!

Feel free to add on!

It's interesting that we have signed Warren but not Ennis.

Obviously we're trading him for Love.

Yeah, I noticed that too, 'bone. Hopefully that means he's on the move for something worthwhile.

As things stand now, I still think there are some intriguing options out there to improve the team.

On the free agency front, I would love to see the Suns go for a bargain, minimal salary guy like Earl Clark, Gustavo Ayon, Ekpe Udoh, etc.

On the trade front, there might be opportunity to help Cleveland and Minnesota execute a Love deal, with us taking back salary and getting Anthony Bennett (shot out to Swing).

I'd also look to approach Denver and discuss a salary dump of JJ Hickson where Quincy Miller would be included. Hickson has two more years with a reasonable annual salary and is currently rehabbing a torn ACL. He fell out of favor with Shaw last season, but still is a standout rebounder. Let him finish his rehab here and should be ready come January. The real, IMO, is Miller though. Apparently he's up to 230 pounds. I think he could see some minutes at the 4 as a stretch guy, and he reminds me of a poor man's Greek Freak.

Speaking of the Greek Freak, I'm still dreaming of a Bledsoe sign and trade that lands him. Keep hope alive!

This very same move has crossed my mind too, even was considering it during last season. Stretch forward is exactly the role I'd give Quincy. I also like Arthur and think he is pretty underrated although he's had injury issues too, but if it is a salary dump, might as well get a guy who can play if the Nuggets don't mind getting rid of him. The player I'd really love is Mozgov, though.

The problem with these scenarios is that we end up with too many decent but not great PFs who expect regular playing time, unless you are willing to move the twins/Len in another trade.

A man can dream, right? I had two recurrent wet dreams regarding Bledsoe during last season. Bucks-Freak, Lakers-Exum.

I most certainly am.

And let me clarify: moving Len doesn't need to be a priority. I don't think the Suns should or need to seek to trade him. But if including him facilitates a deal for Giannis, or some other great addition, then by all means include him.
The player I'd really love is Mozgov, though.
He's quietly skilled, isn't he? He's never going to put up huge stats consistently, but he has a knack for making really good basketball plays. I wouldn't say I love him, but a team could do a lot worse than him.

I am in shock hehehe.

I also agree with your next post. Len still has my patience, and the twins are not in my personal trading block at all after their performance last season, but if you want to improve through trades somebody has to go, and I value other pieces more than them.

Needless to say, neither the Morrii nor Len or any other player or asset owned by the Suns (not named Dragic) would keep me from grabbing the Freak.

And what I like about Mozgov is exactly what you say. Every time I've watched the Nuggs (not a lot, mind you), he always seems to do exactly that, the right play. I wouldn't be surprised if he was considered by Denver fans their Dudley.

Is Mozgov sort of like Mark West? West was like that. He was not flashing (but monstrously strong) always made the right play, but for some reason the refs hated him.

I can't answer accurately about West. I was a Suns fan by that time but besides stats what I remember about him is this:

Ayon would make sense from a marketing standpoint for this area. He's a bit stronger and better offensively than Udoh. If it's just defense you want, I'd go with Udoh, who's quicker and blocks more shots. Either makes sense, for the right price.
