I would never disrespect sdc like that.

In all seriousness though, I don't usually wish for a coach or GM to get canned unless I feel that he's doing more harm than good. And that's not McDonough. He's done a solid job, but, IMO, he's not doing the best job possible with the hand he's been dealt and even with the opportunities he's created.
It's been less than two weeks since everyone on the board was crying because INF wasn't around. Now he's back and (some) posters are throwing him under the bus. Let's not beat up on INF. If I am reading things correctly, he simply feels like he could have been doing a(n) (even) better job than our resident boy wonder GM. I suspect that he'd be pretty good.

Thanks v9, but I don't like playing that "I could do so much better" card. I think that's pointless and silly. I prefer to just say, "do better."

I do have specific ideas as to what moves should be made, trades, draft, free agency, etc. And it's not even that it has to happen exactly like I want. For instance, I wouldn't have drafted TJ Warren at 14, but I didn't have a huge problem with it either.

But if the GM drafts someone I don't think is good, trades for someone I don't think is worth it, or signs or lets go a free agent I don't think should have been, then I'm not the type, nor have I ever been, to say, "oh shucks, he gets paid to do it so must no better" or "I'm just going to trust he knows what he's doing" (especially not after just one year on the job, no matter how good that first year went).

Oops, sorry, Sam Presti beat him to it.
haaay... i wish the nba would allow nba teams to loan players to other nba teams, like done in european football.. eg phx loans ennis to NYK for 1 yr.

Yep, I wasn't going to let that go either. It's not like INF to hyperbolize.

I don't think anyone yet has drafted and stashed a first rounder. Not before this draft anyway.

No, not before this draft. But Presti and first round selection Josh Huestis have been getting a lot of press recently for doing exactly what you were predicting McDonough would innovate.

I'm actually quite fond of hyperbole, generally speaking.

I recall being regularly treated with "In McDonough We Trust" over on the RealGM boards. There's something familiar about that phrase...

Hint: This isn't RealGM.

No kidding. Using it against him would be if we matched an offer when he really wanted to leave. Now how many offers is it you have received so far Eric...? I thought so

Then again he could mean that we are currently holding off signing him until we make another move. I still don't think it was a smart thing to say

Well the semi shady thing is when teams swear up and down that they will match any offer for one of their RFAs, but then the guy gets a big offer and they don't match it. It's a weird dynamic to have these teams so actively trying to subvert the value of their own guys. Restricted free agency is just weird. If he signs a deal and wants to leave, shouldn't he just get to leave?

He's not complaining about the Suns, he's complaining about the rule. What is the problem?

Quit crying and take the $48 mil offer on the table.
