Somebody asked if Booker would score 50 points in a game in his career. I said, "If not this year, next year." No, it wasn't 50, count 'em, 70 points!
* The youngest player in NBA history to score 60+ points.
* The most points in Phoenix Suns history.
* The most points scored against the Celtics in their 70 year history.
Congratulations to our own Devin Booker. This is just the start.

carey, duplicating this here if that's OK with you. This feat deserves its own thread.

Jay Caspian Kang did a fine job of that already.

The roll call of the exclusive club is illustrious and historic: Wilt Chamberlain, Kobe Bryant, David Robinson, Elgin Baylor, David Thompson. All managed to drop 70 points in a game at some point in their career. And now they’re joined by a baby-faced guard who at 20 years and 145 days becomes the youngest to smash that barrier.
Devin Booker ran around, through and over the Celtics’ defense Friday for 70 on the nose in a shooting display rarely seen on an NBA court. He did it by taking 40 shots and also making a remarkable 24 of 26 from the line. Even more impressive is that he did it against a 47-26 Boston team with the league’s 11th-best defense, and on the road.
And nobody’s ever scored that much against the Celtics in their long and distinguished history, with Booker shredding the Celtics more than, among others, Michael Jordan, whose 63-point outburst in the playoffs remains a vivid part of league history.
It was the type of performance that will only elevate Booker’s promise as the next best shooting guard in the league, and it’s easily the high water mark this season for the disappointing Suns, whose record will likely finish among the bottom three or four in the NBA.
Michael Jordan never scored 70 in a game. Indeed, only five players in NBA history have: Wilt, Kobe, Elgin, and the Davids Thompson and Robinson. We can add Devin Booker to that list after the 20-year-old scored that number in a loss to the Celtics tonight in Boston. That puts him past the aforementioned Jordan (whose best night was 69), Pete Maravich (68), and Rick Barry (64). Can we get this kid a nickname already?

I totally made this happen with my reverse jinx of posting his sub 30% from the field numbers since Bledsoe was taken out.

This is amazing. I loved seeing the Garden actually rooting for Booker to do well.
Too bad the celtics players aren't as classy as their fans.

The question now is will Devin Booker ever get more than 70?

I'd hate to think he's peaked before he can even buy a beer.
Brandon Jennings had a 55-point game as a 20-year-old rookie. It's been downhill for him since.
