This is already mentioned in other threads, but I thought it deserved its own thread.

The 2018 finalists for the Naismith Hall of Fame have been announced. They are:
Ray Allen
Maurice Cheeks
Charles "Lefty" Driesell
Hugh Evans
Grant Hill
Jason Kidd
Kim Mulkey
Steve Nash
Katie Smith
Tina Thompson
Rudy Tomjanovich
The 1954-58 Wayland Baptist University women's basketball team
Chris Webber
Some great former Phoenix Suns on that list. Nash is a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer, no doubt.

So.. he's not an inductee, he's just a finalist, right?

Of the male players on that list, Nash is clearly the most deserving. (That's not including Lefty and Rudy, who, if they get in, will get in because of their coaching accomplishments.)

Nash or Webber.
Webber was a great college player whose team made a significant cultural impact in and outside of basketball. And he was a very good player at age 20 with Golden State who became a great one in Sacramento.
Both are a notch or two below the elite players, and you could argue that Hill would have been better than both of them if he'd stayed healthy, but both should go in this year.

A couple of names from last year's finalists who are deserving, yet weren't finalists this year - Sidney Moncrief and Kevin Johnson.

Does it matter that most of Webber's wins at Michigan were officially vacated due to him accepting money and losing his amateur status?

Not really. (See Sam Gilbert & UCLA)
