I appriciate that he broke his ankle on our watch and that he was able to rehabilitate it and come back but he never again gave us what we got when he first came on board last year. I'm glad Okobo seems ready to go after his short stint in the G-League.

Canaan wound up being more Eddie House than Eric Bledsoe.
And he wasn't that good of an Eddie House.
If the Suns want a streaky shooter, they still have Daniels.

Don't wish him anything but the best for his future... Just not here

Surprised that they cut him so soon. He had about 4-5 bad games in a row and it seemed like they just got fed up with him. Felt a little callous given that like 2/3 of our roster is underperforming. But I don't think he's very special at PG and I would rather see Okobo and Melton (and others like Jackson and Booker) get those minutes anyway.

No real issues with Canaan except he was put in a bad position by the organization by being asked to play such a big role with so many minutes. Like Ulis, he's a backup at best but probably a 3rd stringer. I do agree that waiving still seems weird given the timing and the roster makeup so there might be something more there than we know.
I still think McD liked him as a poor man's Bledsoe. He couldn't shoot anywhere near Eddie House. I'd have been happy with Eddie House-lite.

I don't have anything against Canaan personally and wish him the best in the future. He was just obviously a hindrance to the Suns playing good ball, and it's not all his fault. Igor kept playing him with probably the worst player on the roster for him to be paired with in Crawford. Neither help the other on either end of the floor.

I wish him well in life and in basketball. He will probably sign as a 3rd guard some where and do better than he did here.
