Let's put our posts about the various All-Star events in their own thread.

Looks like Kuzma was the MVP of the Rising Stars game. Ray Allen played well in the "celebrity" (?) game. Here's ESPN's recap of the Friday festivities:

Anyone tuning in tonight?

Tatum won the Skills Challenge, which was entertaining. They had Dell Curry, Glen Rice, Mark Price, and Ray Allen shoot for charity. And Book showed out a bit in the 3pt contest but didn't make it out of the 1st round because Suns.

Harris and Curry just battled it out and Curry lost by a moneyball. Really impressive shooting all around.

The 3-point contestants did quite well. Curry narrowly lost to Joe Harris. Booker didn't advance past the first round. Looked like he wasn't really warmed up or ready. Bleh.

I saw a good comment on Twitter: "Well, at least he didn't injure himself."

Another good one: "Typical. Booker starts out the contest and is quickly down by 20+."

Not sure about this dunk contest. No real names in it. Why do they always get such nobodies doing this? Where are the veterans in their mid-to-late 20s?

The dunk contest is terrible.

The local boy, Bridges, couldn't even make his dunk despite repeated tries, so they gave him pity-6es and 7s. Smith Jr took about 3-4 tries and got 9s for a difficult bounce pass spinning dunk. No "wow" dunks so far.

I did enjoy Diallo's dunk over Shaq. But overall it was a pretty "meh" dunk contest. Oh well. In retrospect that Aaron Gordon / Zach Lavine contest was really excellent and will likely be remembered for a long time.

The All-Star game itself was somewhat fun. They competed pretty hard at the end. But I still don't like the "captain" concept. I want to see the West take on the East. I don't care if the two conferences are imbalanced. I don't really know who is on the "Lebron" team vs who is on the "Giannis" team, and there are no stakes.

Agreed. The only way it makes sense is if there are no conferences to me. Then pick your teams.

This was good, though.

To me, it only works if you have East vs West or USA vs World. There has to be some logical connection to it.

Or to suit the political climate, North vs. South.
