The immaculate grid of basketball: test your knowledge and or age!!

Hey, y'all!!

Decided to share a fun basketball trivia game that I came across while playing its first iteration, which was for baseball.

https://www.immaculategrid.com/basketball/mens

You have nine guesses, which are used for correct and incorrect choices, to fill out mix and match grid for different teams and or season/career stats. The point is to basically find players who have played for both teams, in that space on the grid.

As an example, I'll post an image of my failed Immaculate grid today. I unfortunately assumed that Kevin Duckworth had averaged at least 10 rebounds a game during one of his Seasons with the blazers. Rest in peace, kevin, but you failed me today.

You'll notice that I used some Vancouver Grizzly players for the Memphis Grizzlies. Thankfully basketball reference allows you to pick players from the entirety of franchise histories. Also, not that it really matters, but the system also assigns a percentage to the player that you picked in terms of Rarity. It was only due to a basketball Almanac that I had as a kid that I realized that Byron Scott had spent season for the Vancouver Grizzlies.

Gonna sticky this for a bit for those interested. Enjoy!!

I've seen some of these posted to twitter and had no idea what they were. Looked like a Sudoku kind of game so I never really paid attention but just gave it a try and got them all on the first shot for a rarity score of 250. Not sure if that's good or bad tho? Thanks for posting this!

I usually end up filling in mine with players from the 70s and 80s first because my brain tends to retain things from those seasons the most - Probably because I collected basketball cards back then and my brain has an easier time when there's a player photo attached.

The one I find difficult is the NFL one.

What does the percentage in the corner mean when you make a good selection?

Not sure how the game works or how it's scored. I think the lower the percentage, the less likely that player was picked by others in the game? So a really obscure player would have a lower percentage but a more obvious player has a higher percentage. So it might be better to try and go with lesser known players because then your overall score would be lower?

I play by memory - but then I end up picking somebody like Don Chaney for the Celtics/Lakers player and Ricky Sobers for the Suns/Pacers player yesterday. My rarity score yesterday was 65, which is the lowest I've gotten, and I think it might be a total of the percentages for the players you choose.

I just wish the had an archive so you could play older ones that you missed out on.

I had the 0.7% for the Suns/Celts, probably the same player -Tony Delk. Had 0.3% for Lakers/Raptors - Issac Bonga.

Ya Tony Delk for the Suns/Celtics. Negele Knight for Suns/Raptors…I randomly looked him up the other day so he was on my mind haha. I didn’t come up with great ones for the other teams though. My score was like 160

Knight's a pretty random one. Barbosa was the obvious one for me. James Jones for Suns/Pacers was obvious but only 1%. I guess a lot of people had TJ?

I thought I was being sneaky with Jermaine O’Neal, hoping people forgot he played with Phoenix, but he was still 15%

Today's rarity score - 31

The youngest player I used debuted in 1977, the oldest in 1953. Every player I used was a Hall of Famer except one, and he was 1st Team All-NBA.

I think most people just name the most recent example that they can thing of.
