Arizona State football

Sorry, I just need to vent a little.
Just how bad was the Herm Edwards hiring? Edwards had a player in Jalen Daniels that transferred out of ASU to LSU, won the Heisman Trophy, was named quarterback of the year and he could do nothing with him. The team was mediocre, at best, under his regime and today we find out the program is getting NCAA sanctions because he committed recruiting violations while head coach at ASU. ESPN said this "Arizona State received four years of probation, an undisclosed fine, vacated games in which ineligible players competed, reduced scholarships and recruiting restrictions. The NCAA did not provide further details about any of those punishments. The school also disassociated from a booster for five years." The man had a very good quarterback, cheated to recruit and still couldn't put a decent team on the field. So in hiring him as a coach ASU was set back 9 years(5 years as head coach and 4 years probation) in its program. Why is the goal for ASU football always mediocre?
