Game Day (Season Opener!): Suns (0-0) @ Clippers (0-0), Wed 10/23/24

Post by Superbone »

Time: 7:00 pm AZ (7:00 pm PT/10:00 pm ET)
Place: Intuit Dome, Inglewood, CA
TV: AZ Family 3TV/ESPN

Phoenix Suns basketball is back, baby! And there is a new bounce in the air. I don't believe we're going to have the frustrating season we endured last season. There is a new energy to the team. Coach Budenholzer was the best man for the head coaching duties. We addressed the point guard issue. We have some exciting youth. Let's go!

Suns get to help christen the new Inuit Dome arena in Inglewood as the Clippers welcome them in for their home opener. As far as I know, Josh Okogie is the only Sun being ruled out for this one. Our new starting lineup of Jones, Booker, Beal, Durant, and Nurkic debuts tonight.

Thanks for all you do Bone! You are a true optimist.

My expectations last year were pretty sky high and they were swept in the first round. This year I am cautiously optimistic. No one knows what will happen and that’s what makes it compelling.

Opening day is always exciting! I expect the team to be fantastic this season! Let's get off to a great start and clip the Clippers!

btw, should we have a poll for season record and Big <==3 games played predictions?

I humbly predict that we are going to absolutely stomp the Clippers, who are going to be one of the worst teams in the West this year, while we are going to be one of the best in the West. DESTROY THEM!!!

The Clippers still have a decent roster if Harden is back to his heliocentric ways and skills. I wouldn't underestimate them, but I certainly believe that the Suns are going to win the first game at the new Clippers mega palace.

Suns vs. Clippers
The late game (10 ET), features the Los Angeles Clippers hosting the Phoenix Suns in their highly anticipated debut at the Intuit Dome. After spending 25 years sharing an arena with the Lakers, the Clippers are celebrating their new home and hope to start the season strong against a loaded Suns squad.

Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal are back for their second season together, looking to build on their 26-15 record in games they shared the court last year. While the Clippers won last season’s series against Phoenix 3-1, they’ll be without Kawhi Leonard tonight. James Harden, who shined in two of last year’s meetings with the Suns, averaging 20.5 points and 10.5 assists on 63.6% from three, will lead the charge as the Clippers try to make their home opener a memorable one.

It was quite telling how Boston really attacked NY’s best two offensive players and made them have to expend more energy on D than they would have wanted. Suns should be looking to do the same with Harden - either tire him out on D or take advantage if he doesn’t want to try on that end. And keep shooting lots of 3s!
Can’t take this one easily but should win (so exactly the kind of game they would lose last year). Go suns!!

10 point lead going into the 4th, only to lose it. That's what would have happened last year.

This will be the first time since Cam Johnson in 2019 that Phoenix has utilized a rookie in the rotation.

Clippers really crashing the boards. Out muscling the Suns so far. Need some star power here as we started out like a Vogel lead offense having everything go through Nurk. That don't work.
