Appreciate everything he did to bring us back to relevance. People only harp on the Hali draft but he turned us around immediately and helped get us to the Finals.

Jones made some good transactions and some bad ones. That's the way it is in the business. You just try to hire the ones who make more good than bad.

I'll miss him. He was a GM who often did things in ways I agreed with or came to agree with. I like how he valued patience, prioritizing high-character guys on the roster, and getting shooters. He made some whiffs (HALIBURTON) but he put together one of the best Suns teams in franchise history. Hope he goes on to great things in his next role.

James Jones did a lot of good for this franchise. Basically turned us around from a rudderless team under Sarver to two games away from our first ever NBA Championship. Of course, as we've said, he wasn't perfect but he put a real team together with a perfect coach for us at the time to help change our culture and to draft players that fit that vision.
Very happy for what he accomplished for our Phoenix Suns and I wish him the best in his new endeavor at the NBA league level.

Good point, bone. It's easy to forget, but before Jones we were really doing poorly, going in the wrong direction / no direction at all. We'd had a revolving door of coaches, GMs, presidents, etc. and none of it was really working. Jones comes in and pretty quickly we started on the right path and became much better for several years. I'll always appreciate his vision and focus on the big picture. I honestly didn't think he would be as good as he was; I tend not to like hiring just-retired players who don't have real experience, but he was often wise beyond his years. I bet he'll do a great job working in the NBA office. (Maybe he can be an inside man for us and get the 2nd apron penalties removed??)
