Media Day in Phoenix and then the official training camp starts in Flagstaff two weeks from today. There will be a scrimmage in Phoenix on Saturday, October 3rd. Every Sun is here now for informal workouts except Morris.

Per John Gambadoro of ArizonaSports, his sources with the Suns tell him Morris has promised to make Media Day a circus if he's not traded before then. But as I pointed out a couple days ago, if the Morrii are heading to trial that Wednesday it would be convenient just to ask him to stay away from the team until that's resolved. And it's unlikely the Suns will make a move until the legal troubles are resolved.

Yeah, but Media Day shouldn't be about him. There will be plenty of time for that (frying his ass) later.

Training camp culminates with the annual intrasquad scrimmage. This time, according to the media release, the annual scrimmage will be down in Phoenix, on October 3 at 6:00pm. My guess is that the Suns will open up Talking Stick Resort Arena free (or very inexpensive) to the fans for a sneak peak at the new team.

I will be highly amused if they charge for the scrimmage. I went a few years back and was shocked at how little effort they put into everything but concession stands and trying to sell you tickets. No scores or announcers just the guys out there putzing around. I still can't believe how bad it was.

I remember just thinking that there is no way JC would have put on such a half ass show. Has anyone gone in the last few years? Was it any better?

I agree. I don't think he could do much but make himself look bad if he tries to make a scene.

What is he going to say? That he is mad they traded his brother? That he is throwing a fit because he has been here longer than the gm so he should be included in all trade talks.

I mean this is a guy who ditched out on national media after having one of the best games of his career. He isn't so great in front of the mic. The quotes we would get if he just lets loose would be so amusing. I'm really hoping it happens.

We have Popovich, Rusell Westbrook, among others, already cornering the market for media freakshows, and that, without consider a tradition that already had Allen Iverson and Shaquille O' Neal. All this people have in common to be RELEVANT to the league, so I can't think of a media day truly being kidnapped or destroyed by Crying Baby Morris. Unless the local and/or national media plays along, he can't go beyond shooting a couple snippets to the team, while in return gets roasted as unprofesional and inmature.

Wasn't it an open practice that you were at? This is the final scrimmage they do every year at the end of training camp. Usually in Flagstaff but this year they're doing it in Phoenix. It's got referees and everything and they keep score. They treat it like a real game although sometimes players might change sides at halftime. I've watched it the last few years and it's well done. I don't think they'll charge for it.

It was definitely at AMA so you are probably right that it was an open practice. My memory is going.

The fact that both of them are facing criminal assault charges is huge as well. The league precedent is that if convicted, even if no jail time is in play, they are facing no less than a 10 game suspension and probably 20 or more. It is reasonable for the Suns to take steps so that they do not have TWO players facing double digit suspensions.

There is simply can be no sympathy for Markieff from any reasonable person.

I became a Suns fan in earnest around 1992-93, during the Barkley heyday, so I think I missed the Madhouse. When did they switch to AWA?

That year I think. The 1992-93 season was the year they switched to AWA.

Yes, 1992-93 was the first year in AWA.

I remember in the late 87, 88, and even 89 getting tickets through my elementary school for $8 and buy one/get one. And there were only 15-20 rows up from the floor. You could go down and talk to the players afterwards and get autographs. I distinctly remember KJ asking age-appropriate math questions to kids before he would give an autograph.
