Nothing too dramatic; much like the Celtics did in going from 1 to 3. I wouldn't trade out of the top 4. I would targeting Bamba or JJJ.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote:What kind of trade are you picturing? NBA Draft 2026: Quadir Copeland. Nick Martinelli. Trey Kaufman-Renn. Graham Ike.
Re: 2018 Phoenix Suns Pick Watch
So, we got it! 16 and 17, right? Or is there a tie breaker between Milwaukee and Miami?
ETA: Undetermined. A coin flip on Friday will decide the pick's fate.

We will either get 16 and 17 or only 16 depending on the flip.

it would be such a recent Suns thing to do to win a coin flip for a draft pick the GM seemingly doesn't really wantSuperbone wrote:So, we got it! 16 and 17, right? Or is there a tie breaker between Milwaukee and Miami?

If we don't get the pick this year, I think it would be even less likely that we would get it next year.Hermen wrote:Or just having a GM that doesn't want a draft pickGladiator wrote:it would be such a recent Suns thing to do to win a coin flip for a draft pick the GM seemingly doesn't really wantSuperbone wrote:So, we got it! 16 and 17, right? Giannis is great, but the Bucks are still the Bucks. They have a lot of salary tied up in bench players and now they have to find a coach and another impact player on the midlevel exception. They are going to screw up at least one of those things. It's very possible they mess up both.

And even with all the turmoil this year, they made the playoffs and won 44 games. I don't see them losing more games next year.O_Gardino wrote:Giannis is great, but the Bucks are still the Bucks. Sure, but the longer they keep it, the better our chances of getting a higher pick, IMO. They might take a similar path as the '14-'15 Pelicans, who made the playoffs on 45 wins, then broke the roster and replaced the coach.
Don't get me wrong, I'd like to have the pick now. I like a few guys in that range, and we need like 10 new players. But I don't think it's now at #17 or later at #25. If we don't get it now, there's a good chance we get a good pick later.

I don't expect it to drop to 25 right away either, but I also don't think there is typically drafts as deep as this one. I mean, look was two top 10 picks got us two years ago... :/O_Gardino wrote:Sure, but the longer they keep it, the better our chances of getting a higher pick, IMO. Re: 2018 Phoenix Suns Pick Watch
Is it though? I would make the top 5 picks subject to a lottery with even odds for all non-playoff teams. So the worst team won't draft worse than 6. I think that's the only way to go that will make a difference and isn't needlessly complicated. It also helps the teams that get stuck in the 10-13 range of the draft, like Charlotte.carey wrote:So is evening the odds imo.INFORMER wrote:I think that's a little extreme.specialsauce wrote:I like it, with the caveat of not being allowed a top 3 pick more frequently than every 4 years.INFORMER wrote:I'm pretty sold on evening the odds for all 14 teams that don't make the playoffs.
I've always been a fan of rebuilding, but GMs have taken it to an unsavory extreme that produces bad optics for the league and mind-numbing, incessant narrative in the media about tanking. I like young players getting a chance to play to develop, and I like a team giving a few G-League guys a chance here and there. But teams have them trotting out full-blown G-League rosters out there. It's embarrassing.

The drawing happens in a few minutes. Hopefully we get the pick.

Re: 2018 Phoenix Suns Pick Watch
So next year it’s protected 1-3 and 17-30.
So we only get it if it’s 4th-16th. Highly unlikely barring an injury to Da Freak

Well, how exactly is it harder to trade Milwaukee's 1st next year instead of this year?Superbone wrote:https://twitter.com/sbordow/status/984911029787246592
There's a good chance it will be a better pick next year, and if not, it will be unprotected in 2020.
