Game Day (Summer League): Magic (2-0) @ Suns (2-0), Mon 7/9/18

He's definitely forcing things on his drives and he didn't finish well at the rim. I love the aggressiveness, especially considering he's got the mask on. I think he'll come around and will look better when he feels less inclined to do more.

Yep... Josh is fine. His defense has been great, he's forcing things, but I'm not worried until he does that in the regular season. Summer league is where we want him to test his boundaries. He'll settle down I think

Isaac is looking really nice. I have a feeling we're going to be regretting taking JJ over Isaac.specialsauce wrote: ↑Mon Jul 09, 2018 8:39 pmHe just blows. He’s absolutely awful right now. Really should expect an improvement in his decision making after getting so much PT as a rook

Once again....the overreaction to summer league games every year is priceless!
Ayton looked great tonight. I really can’t wait for the season to start already. I am freaking pumped.

It's not an excuse, but they took JJ over Isaac because of Chriss and Bender. They still might've taken JJ, but Isaac was out of the question because of who was already on the roster.iLLmatic wrote: ↑Mon Jul 09, 2018 8:45 pmIsaac is looking really nice. Archie Goodwin 2.0 Lol

Lol, he literally shot 22%, worse than JJ’s 23%.iLLmatic wrote: ↑Mon Jul 09, 2018 8:45 pmIsaac is looking really nice. Interestingly, Isaac and Bamba combined for 14 points and 11 rebounds in 49 minutes. Ayton had 17 points and 13 rebounds in 25 minutes. He basically dominated both their bigs all by himself.

Calling people out for overreactions in the middle of a game thread is low-hanging fruit :p

JJ's obviously not Archie 2.0, but he's not that good, either.

Similar to them taking Len over McCollum because of Dragic.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Mon Jul 09, 2018 8:54 pmIt's not an excuse, but they took JJ over Isaac because of Chriss and Bender. He's been brutal in summer league but I am not concerned. He showed plenty at the end of last season. Plus, it's not like this is going to be his role during the season.specialsauce wrote: ↑Mon Jul 09, 2018 8:39 pmHe just blows. He’s absolutely awful right now. I'm not an Isaac fan at all, but in principle, this is why it hurts to have a bad GM, and, more specifically, how much harm bad draft choices can cause. A bad GM doesn't will go all in on his bad choices, and will avoid any move that my look like an admission that s/he made a bad choice.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Mon Jul 09, 2018 8:54 pmIt's not an excuse, but they took JJ over Isaac because of Chriss and Bender. So a bad GM drafts a really bad PF prospect in one draft. The next year, he'll pass on a great PF prospect because he still wants his guy from previous year to look good.
Another example: a bad GM overpays in a trade for a player who is about to be a free agent. The player looks bad in his time with the team after the trade. But because the GM overpaid for the player, he feels compelled to resign the player at all costs to save face.
The mistakes of a bad GM are so costly.

How many more games do we get if we take the title?
Ayton has looked better and better each game. Really liked seeing him work in the post. Can't wait for the next game.

Actually, I think McCollum wasn't an option because Ryan was targeting Bledsoe.

I don’t understand how people keep forgetting how he played post all-star break. I know people like Issac’s potential but Josh Jackson has shown much more so far. Not saying Isaac won’t be good or better in the long run but I’m gonna need more than few summer league games before I start declaring drafting Jackson over Isaac was a mistake.
Re: Game Day (Summer League): Magic (2-0) @ Suns (2-0), Mon 7/9/18
I don't think so. The trade was all potential based on what he showed when Paul went down. Once we figured out he wasn't worth the contract we should've cut bait but we didn't.

There's a lot of JJ fans on this board, I hope he pans out.
