The Lakers are shooting a great percentage. Almost everybody is like 8-11 shooting it seems like. Go Suns defense!

Suns need to go 31-0 the rest of the way to finish the season with a winning record.

Considering they only have 30 games left, I'm thinking that might be a bit difficult to do.The Bobster wrote: ↑Sun Jan 27, 2019 10:07 pmSuns need to go 31-0 the rest of the way to finish the season with a winning record.

Interesting that Booker finished the game sitting on the bench after being substituted for with 6:24 remaining.

The fact that this team has regressed since last season is the most depressing thing of all. Losing badly to the clown show of Beasley and Lance was just painful.

Booker is doing Booker from here on out it looks like. Just going to pick a member of the opposing team to jaw with and get a T.The Bobster wrote: ↑Sun Jan 27, 2019 10:17 pmInteresting that Booker finished the game sitting on the bench after being substituted for with 6:24 remaining.
Booker, if you don't like the result try playing D once in awhile.

This team looks like a rec league team out there. Minimal effort, not applying any sort of strategy.
Man, good thing one of Igor's interview questions wasn't, "How do you coach against a Booker double team above the three point line?" He'd a been screwed.
I like that Terry guy. Shows good effort and energy. If we only had 11 more guys on 10 day contracts you'd see an inspired team on the court.
Bridges didn't suck tonight. That's as much of a compliment I can give This team.

So, do we suck because we don't have enough talent (or the right talent) on the roster? Or do we suck because the talent isn't being managed, coached, groomed, taught properly? I know it's probably both, but which factor dominates? If we had Popovich, or Kerr, or Bud, or whomever, would we be decent? Or if it's the roster, what player swap would we need to be good right now?
Re: Game Day: Suns (11-40) @ Lakers (25-24), Sun 1/27/19
We suck because all of our quality NBA talent ie Booker, Ayton, and TJ are one way players with no idea how to win in the NBA. Booker/TJ both career NBA losers, Ayton is a rookie, has no clue. Igor has never been an NBA head coach and it shows. The rest of the team has to lean on the core talent to lead them but none of them have any idea how to do anything but score at the NBA level.
This is why we routinely give up 120pts a night and fall behind by 20 in the 1st quarter if they arent scoring well. We stop nobody, and that falls squarely on the shoulders of this teams leadership.

Imagine if Popovich could coach Josh Jackson. I bet he could teach him how to play and make him into a great player on both ends of the court.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote: ↑Mon Jan 28, 2019 12:19 amSo, do we suck because we don't have enough talent (or the right talent) on the roster? It's definitely both coaching and personnel. You don't get this bad unless you have issues with both. It is obvious we need a decent PG and PF. I'm pretty sure everybody knows that. I'm also afraid that Kokoskov doesn't have what it takes to be a head coach either and that saddens me. I had high hopes for him. I think he had the perfect storm when he led the Slovenian team to their championship. He may be a bright offensive mind but it's getting pretty obvious that he is not a leader of men. He also doesn't have the chops to work the officials. It's great that he has such a strong hold on his emotions but as all good coaches do, you have to know how to work the officials and not allow yourself to be a doormat.

Recognizing that hindsight is always a crystal clear 20-20, the Suns should have stayed the course and made Jay Triano the coach for this season after his “try-out” year as interim coach. He had the well-documented success with Josh Jackson and may have had similar results this season with other players. While discreet, Triano (unlike Kokoskov) knew when to light up an official for game-calling malfeasance. And after last season’s absolutely horrific start, he made some strides, albeit modest. But now the Suns are back in a rut with a failed new coach, plodding to quite possibly the franchise’s worst record since the inaugural season.Superbone wrote: ↑Mon Jan 28, 2019 12:58 amI I'm also afraid that Kokoskov doesn't have what it takes to be a head coach either and that saddens me. At this point I'm just hoping to get to that inaugural record. This season could still end up with the worst record ever.LazarusLong wrote: ↑Mon Jan 28, 2019 2:31 amRecognizing that hindsight is always a crystal clear 20-20, the Suns should have stayed the course and made Jay Triano the coach for this season after his “try-out” year as interim coach. I don't know if it's interesting. They've been doing that when the game is well out of hand. I don't think they or Booker likes his detractors saying that he gets his numbers in garbage time. The Bobster wrote: ↑Sun Jan 27, 2019 10:17 pmInteresting that Booker finished the game sitting on the bench after being substituted for with 6:24 remaining.

I don't think Triano was anything special and any coach forced to go into a season with our PG situation would look just as bad. That said, we drafted a 7-0 franchise big #1 overall and hardly post him up. You don't necessarily need a PG to run offense thru your center on the block. Any one of our guys can do that now so that falls on Igor. I feel like we're running the Utah offense except we don't have Mitchell, Rubio, or Exum on the perimeter and we use Ayton like Gobert. Should be the opposite.
