Suns trading Melton and Jackson to Grizz for Korver and Javon Carter
Re: Suns trading Melton and Jackson to Grizz for Korver and Javon Carter
I deleted it. I didn't know about that suspension under Triano being because he was hungover during practice and he threw up all over the court. I thought Gambo said it was before a game but it was practice.

He also listed firing Ryan McD the architecture of some of those bad moves another bad move.AmareIsGod wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 2:28 pmSo hiring Monty and paying Rubio are listed as some sort of organizational blunder. Thanks @BillSimmons . Apparently the rest of the league is wrong and Monty is a poor hire. Rubio, after all the other deals have been made, is on a very fair market value contract. The Athletic put out an article with facts and analytics that say we're paying Rubio a very fair contract.
I guess teams just sit on their bad picks and own up to their mistakes by running those same mistakes out, night after night. Let's also forget that this is a new regime running the organization. Let's trash the new guys for cleaning house.

Throwing up at a New Year’s Day practice probably happens more than we hear about. Not sure this should be breaking news

Many of the moves Jones has made that Simmons mentions were either good or to be determined -
Anderson for Johnson? Hell yeah!
Ariza for Oubre? Yes!
Igor for Monty? Looks good to me!
Give Jackson away? Couldn't happen soon enough for me!
We'll see how the Warren trade and the draft choices and FA signings turn out. Simmons would be better served just writing about his Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics and not assuming he's an authority on everything basketball.

I guess we can pretty much close the book on the McDonough disaster now.

Is it correct that Booker is the only Suns player left since before last year's draft?

Doesn't shine well on McDonough.specialsauce wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 1:46 pmI really don't care about this move. I wish they would have gotten a useful piece at least, because Carter is literally just filler. But I'm not losing sleep about the second round picks or Melton.
Drafting Jackson was a massive bust. Wow.
Suns in the last decade have drafted busts at the 4th pick twice, the 5th pick, the 8th pick.
That's embarrassing.

To be fair, these are all 2nd round picks while previously we discarded 1st round picks. We even picked up an additional 1st rounder this year.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 1:53 pmHmm. Well, we cleared up the cap space we need to officially sign Rubio. But boy does James Jones love giving away draft picks to get deals done. And he seems to attach no value whatsoever to second-rounders. That was always how Sarver felt about draft picks, undervaluing them and throwing them around to get trades done. I think he and Jones are like-minded in that respect.
I like a lot of the guys we have acquired (Rubio, Saric), but I worry about the overall disregard for draft assets and mismanagement of our draft picks (e.g. taking Cam Johnson).

I actually like it starting at firing GM. To be honest, we don't yet know how those following moves pan out.

Who cares what Bill Simmons thinks? I certainly don't. That guy hasn't been relevant for most of this decade.AmareIsGod wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 2:28 pmSo hiring Monty and paying Rubio are listed as some sort of organizational blunder. Trading a 1st rounder for a 1st rounder isn’t picking up an additional 1st rounder.Superbone wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 3:49 pmTo be fair, these are all 2nd round picks while previously we discarded 1st round picks.
