Gambo mentioned this a couple weeks ago too. It was during practice not a game (January 1, 2018).
They did all those trades during practice? Impressive.

Hmm. Well, we cleared up the cap space we need to officially sign Rubio. But boy does James Jones love giving away draft picks to get deals done. And he seems to attach no value whatsoever to second-rounders. That was always how Sarver felt about draft picks, undervaluing them and throwing them around to get trades done. I think he and Jones are like-minded in that respect.

I like a lot of the guys we have acquired (Rubio, Saric), but I worry about the overall disregard for draft assets and mismanagement of our draft picks (e.g. taking Cam Johnson).
To be fair, these are all 2nd round picks while previously we discarded 1st round picks. We even picked up an additional 1st rounder this year.
Trading a 1st rounder for a 1st rounder isn’t picking up an additional 1st rounder.

It is if you would have used that pick on a Josh Jackson. Or a Marquise Chriss. Or an Alex Len. Or a Dragan Bender.

Many of the moves Jones has made that Simmons mentions were either good or to be determined -

Anderson for Johnson? Hell yeah!
Ariza for Oubre? Yes!
Igor for Monty? Looks good to me!
Give Jackson away? Couldn't happen soon enough for me!

We'll see how the Warren trade and the draft choices and FA signings turn out. Simmons would be better served just writing about his Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics and not assuming he's an authority on everything basketball.
Exactly, Bobster. He acted like every one of those moves was bad. Just stop, Billy.

I guess we can pretty much close the book on the McDonough disaster now.
Wow was it bad in hindsight for most of us and foresight for INF. F-! He was right all along!

Soon as we find a way to dump Booker.
Shut your mouth! Ayton too for that matter.

We only had one 1st rounder this year. 6th and then 32nd in the 2nd round.

Yeah, I know, we’ll probably have to attach a couple of future first rounders just to get someone to take him, but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet.

We'll sweeten the pot with Ayton to make it a clean McDonough sweep.

I regret the day I ever posted that article and said "hey, the Suns should look at this guy!" Think he was hired less than a week later!

I remember that! :D And for our one lost phx-suns.net year, it was great! Then all downhill from there. :(

I don't get Gambo's tweet...it strengthens the Suns' position? I'd think it'd help Oubre make the case that we need him more now that Jackson is gone and only Bridges, a 2nd yr player, is the only known commodity we have at SF. Of course we could always add a SF thru free agency but either way, I don't think we have any more leverage now.

But you're right, Shel. This was done to clear cap space for Rubio while dumping Jackson.

We had better get Oubre back! Kind of like when we went from all the PGs to none, all of a sudden our SF glut is gone!

Depressing.
I actually like it starting at firing GM. To be honest, we don't yet know how those following moves pan out.
Maybe remind Simmons that most of those moves are due to hiring are due to hiring an idiot GM from his beloved Boston

That’s if Simmons isn’t busy attempting to talk about hip hop to guys in their 20’s. It’s lame as shit trying to see Simmons bond with players that way. He clearly goes on the internet and researches the hip hop stuff before the interviews but acts like it’s who he is. Hey look I play Pearl Jam in my intro and have a secret tattoo of myself which I show girls in their 20s at bars and tell them Kevin Durant and I are buds.
He would constantly jerk off on air about the Celtics and nets trade and look how they both are now.
Simmons can fuck off.

Is there any chance at all that we keep Korver?
Seems to fit what’s Jones is trying to build in terms of great shooting, solid vet with no defense
We still need a backup sg don’t we? They were teammates for a while right?
