Everybody acts like the Clippers are trash and should leave LA because the Lakers are more popular. But I'm sure the Clips still make tons of money by being in LA, on tickets, on the local TV deal, everything else. And players still love to play in LA. So I don't see why they would be in any hurry to leave town.

OTOH, I’d love to see Seattle get a team back. Does LA really need two teams?Mori Chu wrote: ↑Wed Mar 25, 2020 9:11 pmEverybody acts like the Clippers are trash and should leave LA because the Lakers are more popular. I don't think so. I could only see it happening if the Lakers were being run under really bad ownership. I mean like Dolan or Sterling type bad.Nodack wrote: ↑Wed Mar 25, 2020 5:52 pmIf they won a Championship I think you would be amazed at the number of lifelong fans that come out in LA.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Wed Mar 25, 2020 3:36 pmI don't know why he doesn't just move the team to Seattle. Everyone in the NBA makes money right now. I think they'd make more in Seattle, but you have a point about players wanting to be in LA. Remember when the Suns had that kind of allure?Mori Chu wrote: ↑Wed Mar 25, 2020 9:11 pmEverybody acts like the Clippers are trash and should leave LA because the Lakers are more popular. Winning creates all sorts of fans - and if you'd said in 1998 Manchester City would be the biggest club in Manchester in less than 13 years, when they had just been relegated to the third division and United had every trophy in their cabinet, you would have been locked up.

With the winter weather here and size of the city we can turn it around, but that relies on Sarver taking a hike, or at least learning which I'm not too hopeful about, and possibly the season not shifting forward by so much that it finishes at the end of summer.

Counterpoint: I lived in Seattle from 2003 - 2013, and in general I found that the Sonics didn't have as great of a fan base as you'd think. It's muuuuuch more of a Seahawks town. I'd go to a Sonics game and there would be a contingent of passionate fans there, but it wasn't as loud or full as you might expect from such a big city. I am sure they'd love to have the Sonics back, but I actually think the Clippers franchise makes much more money in LA than they would in Seattle.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 4:10 amEveryone in the NBA makes money right now. Re: Suns News: Week 20 3/9-3/15
They were also pretty bad during those years. They had that one good run with Nate, but other than that they were trash. On the other hand, the Seahawks were in the playoffs 5 straight years in that span, including a superbowl appearance.Mori Chu wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 1:29 pmCounterpoint: I lived in Seattle from 2003 - 2013, and in general I found that the Sonics didn't have as great of a fan base as you'd think. I would guess that was flipped from 1993-2003 when the Sonics were great and the Seahawks were mostly terrible.Mori Chu wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 1:29 pmCounterpoint: I lived in Seattle from 2003 - 2013, and in general I found that the Sonics didn't have as great of a fan base as you'd think. Also looking back, 1998-2004 were kind of the Dark Ages for the NBA. Post-Jordan (sort of), no one could really stop Shaq (not even the officials) and a lot of young guys who got paid thinking they were the next Jordan. I'll always believe D'Antoni and Nash together was one of the biggest reasons the NBA got out of that funk and lead to where it is today.

Balmer is not running the Clippers under a business scope. The paragraph I quoted earlier, top it with that direct quote from Balmer “I’m not sure they understand what they’ve gotten themselves into, from my perspective.”, tells you everything you need to know about it: He is trying to conquer LA and will do whatever it takes financially to make it happen. Of course that same quote fits to him, but my point is about why he is not considering at all at the moment any relocation. Perhaps in a few years, if nothing interesting happens and he gets tired and bored from his toy or his domination plans. But this last couple years, it's clear that he has achieved on moving the team forward into something really interesting.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Wed Mar 25, 2020 3:36 pmI don't know why he doesn't just move the team to Seattle. Top 25 under 25
Booker / Mitchell at 9 and 8 respectively should swap places at least (Mitchell could drop a few more spots imo) but other than that the list looks pretty accurate.
Lonzo at 24 I still love and think he'll be a riser, Trae Young at 6 i look forward to seeing in the lottery year after year setting new standards for what empty stats means.
Zion at 2 a little high probably this early in the piece, but not too high if you're okay with the small sample size.
And Doncic at 1 but who cares about that
