I don't see Hayes being there. If he is, the Suns could do worse.

You're right in that he didn't do anything in the NBA. I think there were some extenuating circumstances on that though.

He’s also been gone 2 years. You’ve got to evaluate his Europe stats a little differently than nba, but they’re still a better indicator of where his current game is.

Sonny Weems and Ekpe Udoh would like a word.
Some players are just meant for the Euroleague.

Exactly. And Nick Calathes wants some of that action too.
When I watch Larkin's highlights, I don't see a player that has significantly improved. I see a player who is better suited to play overseas and is taking advantage of the freedom he is afforded against lesser competition.

Re: NBA FA 2020 & Suns FA targets
You guys could very well be right, you can’t just translate his euro stats over to the nba, but it’s not fair to judge him on 2 years ago either. That’s where scouting comes in. I haven’t watched him in Europe, maybe the huge improvements are just that he’s better suited for overseas. But I think he’s worth entertaining.INFORMER wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 12:02 pmExactly. An interesting article that compares salary to production -

No surprise that the worst contract the Suns are paying is Tyler Johnson's, but it's encouraging to see there aren't any other clunkers on the payroll.

Here is the full player rankings they based the chart on. It's crazy. If Owen Wilson read it, he would say wow.

Christian Wood is one of the gems. I want to go after him hard in the offseason. He's the exact sort of PF we need (good rebounder, good defense, high % 3 point shooter, athletic, young)The Bobster wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 7:19 amAn interesting article that compares salary to production -

Throw a 4 yr 50M his way.

Super interesting data. I notice that many highly paid veterans like Blake Griffin, Russell Westbrook, Kyrie Irving, Gordon Hayward, etc. make a ton of money for not much net positive impact on the court. At least we don't have a lot of guys like that on our roster.

I think the RAPTOR take is nuts. Just absolute total hogwash. A great example of what happens when you just throw a bunch of calculations at some numbers without meaningful context.
Chris Paul is #13 and Russel Westbrook is #112, so if those guys got traded for each other, we should see a big difference in the standings. Except that they were traded for each other, and their teams are in essentially the same positions as last season.
Rudy Gobert is the 5th best player in the NBA? Please. Hassan Whiteside at #19(!), a full 7 spots ahead of Embiid.
Ricky Rubio at #44 and Mike Conley at #181. Come on.
Danny Green and Donte DiVincenzo are both in the top 30.
"Stats" that try to boil a player's value down to just one number are all bogus, but this is one of the worst ones I've seen.

I'm not sure that gets it done, WW. The Knicks are going to have tons of money to spend; I think they'll top that.
Additionally, I'm not sure how appealing the Suns will be to him. Sure, I think Monty and Jones can put together a good pitch, but Wood is looking to establish himself. If I were Wood, I'd be hesitant to come to Phoenix and have to share interior touches with Ayton; I'd be afraid they would have me just standing at the 3-point line all day. I think he'll be attracted to a situation where he would be the featured big man.

Re: NBA FA 2020 & Suns FA targets
It all depends on what happens with the cap, but I can see someone paying him more than we paid Rubio. So that would be in the 20M/year range. Like INF said, NY always spends money crazy amounts of money.
Re: NBA FA 2020 & Suns FA targets
Jordan Clarkson is an interesting target if the price is right.

I'd like to add him and Jerami Grant (let Saric walk).
Send me a PM if you're interested in joining the phx-suns.net fantasy basketball league.
Re: NBA FA 2020 & Suns FA targets
There won't be cap space to do that. Clarkson is making $13.4 million and Grant is making $9.3 million. They aren't taking pay cuts, and their teams will at least pay them their current salary. Clarkson is probably going to get $15 million/yr; Grant is going to be looking for $10 million/yr at the least, and could probably get $12 million from Denver.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 6:06 pmI'd like to add him and Jerami Grant (let Saric walk).
So if the Suns want both players to leave winning situations, they'll probably have to offer the them a combined $30 million/yr; they don't have the room to do that.
