Around the League: Season Resumes
Re: Around the League: Season Resumes
These lockdown/bubble games feel like March Madness or something to me. Games all day, real intensity and stakes, high quality of play, excitement. I'm quite enjoying this resumed season. And I was reading that the ratings have been pretty good, around 3m viewers per game, with peaks up in the 4-5 mil range for marquee games.

Denver beat the Spurs
Re: Around the League: Season Resumes
It's definitely been fun. A lot like the NCAA tournament, except with Pros and only the "good" teams.

Great day for us! Spurs and Grizz both lose. Updated standings:
SEED TEAM RECORD GAMES_BACK
8 MEM 32-37 -
9 POR 31-38 1
10 SAS 29-38 2
11 NOP 29-38 2
12 PHX 29-39 2.5
We're 1.5 games back from 9th, which is where we really need to be. Portland is playing white-hot, so they may overtake Memphis for 8th. We would need to pass the Pelicans, Spurs, and whichever of POR/MEM doesn't get 8th. Gaining 1.5 games with 5 to play? Tough, but narrowly possible.

Much better than the 6 games to make up with 8 to play we started out with!Mori Chu wrote: ↑Wed Aug 05, 2020 3:43 pmGreat day for us! Spurs and Grizz both lose. Updated standings:

Re: Around the League: Season Resumes
It would have helped to at least play one of the teams we are chasing to make up a full game with a win
Still glad to see Spurs take a L tho
Wait does that mean we are the only unbeaten ?

Do you know how crazy it would be for us to take over the 8th seed, but then be in a play-in game against the Blazers. Oh man that would be fun.Mori Chu wrote: ↑Wed Aug 05, 2020 3:43 pmGreat day for us! Spurs and Grizz both lose. Updated standings:

Portland only has one "easy" game against the Zombie Nets. Everything else is against Nuggets, Clips, 6ers, and Mavs.

Yep. Sabas 2.0, if he played in the NBA before his injuries and in an era where big ben shoot 3s.

Spurs and Grizz both own the tiebreaker, and it's pretty unlikely that Spurs lose 2 and the Grizz lose 3. We need one of those two to be in the 8th spot, and the other to drop below us in the standings. Probably more likely at this point that the Grizz lose 3. But we still need lots of loses from 2 good teams.
We are 50/50 on our regular season matchups with both the Pels and the Blazers. Who owns the tiebreaker there? Do we need both of them to lose a bunch too?
Playoffs are still very unlikely, but this is still very fun.

Re: Around the League: Season Resumes
So the tiebreakers are interesting, they are actually going by win percentage because not all teams will play equal amount of games. We’ve actually played more than most and if we end up tied in games, we’ll actually be ahead because of win percentage. For example, if SA wins out, they go 33-38. If we win out, we go 34-39. Because we’re under .500, that additional 1-1 record raises our win percentage and we’d be ahead. Think Portland is the only team with more games played than us.O_Gardino wrote: ↑Thu Aug 06, 2020 6:28 amWhat happens in case of a tie?Mori Chu wrote: ↑Wed Aug 05, 2020 3:43 pmGreat day for us! Re: Around the League: Season Resumes
Oh, right. I was thinking we would all end up with the same # of games played. So we have a lot better shot at this than I thought.Split T wrote: ↑Thu Aug 06, 2020 6:46 amSo the tiebreakers are interesting, they are actually going by win percentage because not all teams will play equal amount of games. Re: Around the League: Season Resumes
Ya Portland, and Memphis are the big ones. Memphis hasn’t won yet, but they had such a big lead to start so they’re still a threat. But they may be easier to catch than Portland. Need to keep an eye on New Orleans too. Their schedule is just too easy. Need to cheer for Sacramento and Denver today.
