Around the League: Week 4 11/17-11/23
Re: Around the League: Week 4 11/17-11/23
In case you're wondering what Alvin Roberston is up to these days:
Sad, crazy stuff.

Also from Bleacher Report, an article discussing Draymond Green's value to the GSW:
"You could make the argument that his value is somewhat like Taj Gibson's is to the Bulls right now," one NBA talent scout said. "He is seen as a part of the Warriors' main core. His value is very similar to that of Tayshaun Prince on Detroit's championship team. He will end up getting approximately $8 million per year in free agency based on similar comparables."

Wow, Lakers won a road game in ATL.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.
Re: Around the League: Week 4 11/17-11/23
New Orleans won at Sacremento, moving to 6-4 for the season. Davis (28 pts, 9 rebounds) and Cousins (24 and 17) went at it. I wouldn't be surprised if the Pelicans end up being the team that keeps us out of the playoffs.
Re: Around the League: Week 4 11/17-11/23
Also noteworthy is that Milwaukee improved to 6-5.

They've been on somewhat of a tear. Maybe Kidd isn't such a bad coach after all.INFORMER wrote:Also noteworthy is that Milwaukee improved to 6-5.

They have Sanders making a great impact on D again and Knight and Antetokounmpo have made a leap.
Also, their schedule has not been exactly a nightmare so far (@CHA, PHI, @WAS, IND, CHI, @DET, MEM, OKC, @ORL, @MIA, NYK) but they are the only team that has defeated the Grizzlies.

I've watched him couple of times, against Miami and Charlotte. Basically he is doing as expected but on lower volume scoring wise, if you thought he'd be Melo-like from the start.Mori Chu wrote:How is Jabari doing? Haven't heard much.
The good is that he is showing his wide offensive arsenal from one on one ballhandling to middle range post ups and jab steps, and I really like his finishing resources. He is interested in offensive rebouds and moves without the ball.
Comes with usual rookie issues like efficiency and decision making. On the other hand, he looks weak/soft, passes little and his defense is bad. I wouldn't worry, though. He just has to grow into his game (and better conditioning), which is considerably advanced in terms of skill.

I don't know that I ever thought he was a bad coach. I did think he was absolutely the wrong choice for a team full of veterans. Just like I think Fisher is a bad choice in New York. I only have the LP Select so I don't get to watch just any game, but next time the Bucks play one of my five teams I'm going to check it out.Superbone wrote:They've been on somewhat of a tear. We know there's no defense in the no-D-League but has anyone been following the Brady Heslip thing? 40 points in 24 minutes in his debut with 11 3-pointers made.

He followed that up with 38 points and 9 3-pointers the next game...

I bet when he drove to the hoop, the defender was like, "Dang, Heslip right past me!!"

The Lakers win @Atlanta is encouraging for their/our pick.
“Kobe had said (after the play) I wasn’t hugged enough as a child,” Bell recalled. “My mom kind of found him after the instance and we had beat them and offered him a hug in the bowels of the Phoenix arena. She really feels a part of that story.”

SF4L: I think there is almost no chance that we will get that pick this coming offseason. Nick Young would have to go absolutely nuts.

NBA suspends Hornets' Taylor 24 games
I hope PJ Tucker appreciates how lucky he is.The NBA has suspended Charlotte Hornets forward Jeffery Taylor for 24 games without pay after he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor domestic violence assault and malicious destruction of hotel property last month.
...
Taylor, 25, was sentenced to 18 months of probation. As part of his probation, he must complete 26 weeks in a domestic violence intervention program.
...
Silver said Taylor also must enter an outpatient alcohol treatment program and perform alcohol sensor tests daily for 60 days. After that, he is subject to random testing by the probation department. He must also perform 80 hours of community service.
The domestic assault charge will be dismissed if Taylor successful meets the conditions of his probation. If Taylor fails to meet the conditions of his probation he could be subject to further punishment from the league.
...

Lucky he didn't beat his wife?
Re: Around the League: Week 4 11/17-11/23
Stupid alcohol-related incident in which Tucker gambled with other people's lives, not to mention his own. I hope he isn't feeling morally superior.
Note that the violence in Taylor's case consisted of a slap on the arm and a shove, and no medical treatment was required. The criminal justice system found the two incidents to be comparable in severity — Taylor was charged with misdemeanors and received no jail time — while the NBA found one to have eight times the severity the other.
