Had to win a little ugly but it was good for guys like Craig and Holiday to see those minutes later in the game. Good on Monty for adjusting, going smaller when necessary and sticking with Point Book (and also Holiday). The Rockets play to their strengths as a smaller team with a bunch of scoring guards/SFs so it's tougher on bigs like DA and JaVale to matchup. Long jumpers lead to long rebounds, which we've had issues with before. Plus I don't think any team really found a rhythm until late because of the refs' whistles.
I like the versatility we have with lineups now and the fact that Monty uses them. Not having Payne or Shamet during this stretch says a lot about the talent and depth and should only give us that much more of a boost after All-Star.
It's really great seeing Mikal and Cam step up with CP out. They're growing into those offensive roles and not afraid to make plays on their own now.
Last year Craig gave us the bull-in-a-china shop type of play off the bench. He brought energy, athleticism and defense. Now it looks like we have 3 of those guys - Holiday at guard, Craig at forward and JaVale at center. They can change a game in just a few possessions like last night when we needed that boost.
Holiday's already taken Elf's minutes it seems, Shamet might be next. What Holiday lacks in some height he makes up for with his strength and athleticism. Interested to see how he and Payne could work in the backcourt. He looked a little hesitant last night at first next to Book but found his way and make some really positive plays. He's a threat from 3 and off the dribble and can find guys when he's in the paint. Should only get better with more time.

Yup Yup
Very good take on Aaron
Guys can say they are happy to be in an "equal opportunity offense" and indeed we are but as a new guy for sure you looking to give the ball to Book or make an unnecessary extra pass.
Either way he's establishing a role quite quickly

Holiday seems a little sloppy with the ball at times. He throws 1-2 wild passes a game at least. Hopefully he's just getting used to his new team. I like just about everything else about his game. He's a great backup guard. It'll be interesting to see what we do when everybody else is back healthy. Payne/Holiday backcourt? Holiday/Shamet? We have options.

I heard the reaction. They showed him throw it after the buzzer but didn't show the results.bajanguy008 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 5:05 amWait what ?!?

They did show it on the broadcast, but it was much later. I think it was coming back from half-time.

That's right, I was watching the Houston broadcast at the time.

The official turned and made contact with Chris Paul, not the other way around. Idiots.

It is Chris Paul. He knew exactly what he was doing and where he was walking and where the ref was going. He also didn't bat an eye when they collided or when he was tossed. Again, this is Chris Paul. There is a reason every fan base he isn't playing for hates him.

He knew what he was doing - and it was a poor decision made in the heat of the moment.Indy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 1:29 pmIt is Chris Paul. No damage done, but when you make intention contact with an official it's pretty clear what's going to happen. You're going to get ejected and probably suspended.

I was happy to see Book call that set and knew Cam would be open cause both guys were gonna go with DA on the roll
Then I was like seriously Book ?!?!
But Mikal came through with the bail out

I watched the 4th again this time from the Houston broadcast. Mikal was hugely clutch to end the game. And Twin did his part as well. The Euro and the liquid 3. Mikal's one legged improv and Artest-like put back were HUGE. HUGE I say.

Bridges was awesome in this game. He has had a really nice stretch of games lately. If this is how he's going to play for the rest of the year, watch out.
Re: Game Day: Rockets (15-41) @ Suns (47-10), Wednesday 2/16/22
I thought it looked intentional, too. CP3 kind of throws his shoulder forward right before contacting the ref. I love CP3 but didn't like that he did that. He knew he was physically approaching that ref and it isn't cool to shove or bash into them like that. Disagree verbally all you want, but don't physically intimidate him. I thought ejecting him was the right call. Hope he doesn't get a suspension.Indy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 1:29 pmIt is Chris Paul. CP3 wasn’t going to play the rest of the game anyways…I think he knew what was happening, but it didn’t seem egregious. He just didn’t break stride or try to avoid the ref. The ref did turn into his path though. Tech seems fine, I would disagree with a suspension.
