The Bobster wrote:I found this very interesting -

"The new group featuring [Hank] Aaron and his partners is the second known consortium with certifiable interest in buying the Hawks. NBA.com and Bloomberg.com reported earlier this week that former NBA stars Grant Hill and Junior Bridgeman ‎have teamed with USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo and son Bryan Colangelo, two-time NBA Executive of the Year, to form a group that also will be bidding on the team."

Agreed. I didn't know that.

I wonder if Colangelo wishes he had never sold the Suns?
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

No way. You have to cash out an investment at some point.

So why would he buy the Hawks? Does he itch to be involved in running an NBA team again? Does he just think of it as another investment? Does he want to install BC as the GM there and give his son another opportunity to build and manage a team?

I would assume it is a great investment.

I still don't get why the fan support is so poor in Atlanta. They always seem to have half-empty crowds in their arena, even for playoff games. The Hawks are a pretty good team historically who have given their fans some fun squads to cheer for. And Atlanta is a big city with a diverse population, where I'd think an NBA team would get great support. Why is it so bad?

Because its not the SEC, NASCAR, pro bass fishing, or noodling.

Read that email from the owner... it explained it pretty well.

I see that the Suns are one spot behind the Hawks in attendance, ranking #24.

The Pistons, sadly, are #29. How can that devastated city afford to support the Pistons, Lions, Tigers and Red Wings?
