I saw a tweet pointing out that we could technically trade Ish now if we wanted to. That'd be doing him dirty, but still, we could do it if we really needed to do it to make a trade work.
I don't think we're doing him dirty. Him getting another fully guaranteed deal on the open market is no sure thing. We're giving him $2M.

Split the roster into 1/3rds

Starters (4 of 5): Booker, KD, Beal, Ayton
Rotation Bench (2 of 5): Payne, Goodwin
End of Bench (3 of 5): Ish, Todd, Camara

So 6 spots left: 1 starter, 3 rotation bench guys, 2 end of the bench guys. I’d be open to pushing 1 or both of those rotation guys to end of the bench if we find the right guys as well.

If we assume Landale and Craig are back they can fill 2 rotation spots. Feels like we need to add at a bare minimum 2 rotation guys with vet min signings and one of them needs to start. Though I could see Craig just end up starting again.

We can trade Payne + Wainright for up to $10.53M through Friday, and up to $9.27M after Friday.

That can get us Alec Burks who Detroit is supposedly picking up the option on. Give Monty Cam and Ish back?

Sorry, I screwed that up. The second number is right, but the first number (through Friday) is actually lower--we can only take back $8.57M in salary, since our outgoing salary is what they earned this season.

Unless Monty wants us to S&T him another one of his players from last year. I'm thinking it wouldn't be Bazley, though. ;)

Ok new plan:

Acquire Watford with the TPE. Sign EG, Yuta, KBD. Bring back Jock and Craig.

1. Booker
2. KD
3. Beal
4. Ayton
5. Gordon
6. Payne
7. Yuta
8. KBD
9. Watford
10. Landale
11. Craig
12. Goodwin
13. Camara
14. Todd

One more spot that you can sign 4-5 guys to non-guaranteed deals and let them fight over it. Then 3 two-ways that some could be in line for(Camara could too).

I like it…. Definitely a huge improvement over the off-season we had last year.

I like it except I think we need another big who can board and defend.

The way I’d see it is like this: let’s say Watford starts as Vogel likes size.

Pg. Booker, Payne, Goodwin
Sg. Beal, Gordon, Goodwin
Sf. Durant, Yuta, Craig
Pf. Watford, KBD, Craig
C. Ayton, Landale, Watford

That’s 12 guys. I don’t see Camara or Todd being in the rotation at all. I can see wanting 1 of Craig, Yuta, or KBD to be more of a 4/5, but I think with Watford we are covered. That 15th spot could still be a big. I think a real 3rd pg on the roster would be useful too.

Not a big fan of Love anymore. Not sure what he has left to contribute.

I'd be good with this (assuming an Ayton trade is off the table). That's a versatile lineup that can play a number of ways.
