How much longer are we going to keep giving guns and bombs to these people?

All the humanitarian orgs are starting to give up on helping Gaza. It's just too dangerous to be there. Innocent human aid workers are being killed by bombs and strikes.

Netanyahu's response to these latest strikes and killings is pretty pathetic. He claims with a smirk that it was an accident and an unfortunate casualty of war, that it's all part of how things go. He also says they'll conduct an investigation on themselves to see how this error could have occurred. Yeah, sure, right. The fox will conduct a rigorous investigation to see why the hens keep disappearing. Preposterous.

Even if it was a deliberate, premeditated and calculated attack on aid workers near the Iranian Embassy, I have no faith that any accountability will happen. There are zero consequences for this to the leaders and those that knowingly committed these crimes. It's murder by state craft. A serial killer's dream, to have the ability to kill anyone without consequences. All you need to do is come up with a possible excuse.

It’s definitely FU. I don’t think negligent homicide is a thing in war. There is war crimes. How many soldiers would be prosecuted if every civilian killed in any war was called negligent homicide? Intentionally targeting civilians is what every country in WWII did. Carpet bombing Berlin, UK. Firebombing Japan followed by nukes. Vietnam? Russia today? What Israel is doing today seems like revenge more than defense. Hamas with the blessings of the Palestinian people were targeting civilians in Israel and even got paid to carry out attacks as part of a government program.

I was cool with Israel getting some revenge. What Hamas did was totally inhumane. Now Israel has responded in kind in the most brutal of ways itself. Not allowing food to civilians is too far. The US shouldn’t have to sneak aid in. Israel needs the US a lot more than the US needs Israel. Biden needs to put his foot down. Giving them F-16’s is the opposite of putting your foot down.

I once again don’t take much stock in X posts by random people. Seriously, there are more disinformation sites on X than there are information sites and they all claim to be the truth. Don’t believe every random X post just because it aligns with what you believe already.

It’s clearly intentional. If you want to set things right, you invite the aid organizations back and give them military escorts. Or just deliver the aid yourself.

But no. Israel’s position is, “If Gazans are starving and aid workers can’t get to them because they’re afraid of being killed by the IDF, that’s not our problem.”

There’s no defending this anymore.

If Israel doesn’t take action to get aid flowing to Gaza again, I think the charge of genocide is legitimate. This is an intentional campaign to starve the population.

The systems are designed to target people when they are at home, killing their entire family.

Says Paul Graham on X. His post is a little misleading just by reading it. He’s not a journalist. He says we were told Hamas was using children as human shields but in reality their entire families are being targeted in their sleep by AI. Read into the article and it says they are targeting Hamas in their sleep, but he makes it sound like they are targeting Palestinian children. First off this is Paul Graham. Who is Paul Graham? Some computer guy who likes to talk politics on X? I hate these kinds of posts. Now every single person on X is a world renown journalist.

I've posted lots of links to legit news sources describing the genocide, but you seem determined to cover your eyes.

Who, me? I think I've kind of kept myself out of it for the most part.

I meant Nodack. He has been strongly defensive of Israel in this thread and dismissive of criticisms against them. He is certainly entitled to his opinion, though.

The Israeli denials are comical at this point.

You shoot somebody (accidentally). Instead of calling 911, you decide to let him bleed out. The neighbors hear the shot and call 911. When first responders arrive, you brandish/fire at them, denying them access to the victim. All the while you’re shouting, “I swear to God, it’s not my fault! The gun just went off!”

I mean, who cares? Even if the gun did just go off all by itself, your actions since the shooting have clearly taken this out of the realm of “accident.”

I defended Israel’s right to defend themselves. I had less sympathy for Hamas and the Palestinians because they are the ones who have vowed to never stop attacking Israel ever until they are all wiped off the map. That’s a strong statement and they have backed it up for 70+ years. Israel has responded to these attacks before by destroying things. This time was the biggest most lethal attack by Hamas ever and shook Israel to the core. I can see why they would be pissed off. It’s like 9/11 in Israel. We took out Iraq and Afghanistan over 9/11.

Israel has vowed to not stop until Hamas is gone from Gaza and I can’t say I disagree with that. I am not sure how they achieve that aim since Hamas has thousands of fighters and miles and miles of tunnels in Gaza. Israel chose to bomb Gaza and there have been civilian deaths.

I don’t like that no other country would take in Gaza refugees. I am suspicious of Israel caring about civilian deaths. I don’t like that Israel won’t allow food or other supplies in. I don’t like that the US isn’t putting its foot down and demanding aid get in without being targeted. I don’t like that we are giving them jets and bombs and can’t get them to allow aid in. I worry this is going to be a land grab by Israel. I hate Twitter posts by people I never heard of telling me how to feel. I refuse to even have Twitter/X. I rarely see posts with links to any news site I ever heard of. There are a ton of X accounts of foreigners posing as Americans with super patriotic titles trying to sway our views.

I blame the UK for passing this buck to the UN after WWII and then the UN creating their two state solution that hasn’t really solved everything. I blame Israel and the Palestinian people for making this situation a lifelong conflict. Hamas/Palestinians went too far. Israel has responded by maybe going too far too. Targeting civilians would be too far. Stuff happens in war. I remember the US serviceman in Afghanistan who snuck out of the base at night and massacred a family. It wasn’t official US business. It was a soldier that lost it.

There is a lot of fog of war. The Palestinian casualties are reported by Hamas. Maybe you guys trust what they say. I have already seen a lot of fake stuff posted. Netanyahu Is a power hungry leader of Israel who has been doing his own Trump impression of trying to consolidate power to himself. I don’t trust him. I don’t trust most of the “information” coming out of Israel. I basically don’t trust most things nowadays. Global politics is complicated.

The US and Biden’s patience with Israel is at a breaking point.

A blinking red light for Israel in American politics
The shift has come amid rising internal frustrations inside the administration about the war.
https://www.politico.com/news/2024/04/0 ... g-00150684
In notably blunt terms Thursday, top U.S. officials made a series of warnings to the Israeli government that they were nearly out of patience with its conduct of the war in Gaza.

It was a screaming neon sign for Israel with respect to American politics — one that made clear just how unnerved policymakers in the U.S. have been by an Israeli strike that killed seven World Central Kitchen aid workers, including an American. And it marked a major shift in approach towards an ally with whom U.S. officials have customarily tried to be in lockstep.

Biden himself has attempted to separate his growing disdain for Netanyahu from his decades-long belief that the United States must support Israel, according to another senior adviser. Though deeply upset by the civilian death toll in Gaza, the president has also stressed the need not to forget the horrors of the Oct. 7 attack, according to the adviser.

While Biden and his closest advisers are well aware of growing dissension throughout the administration, they had not been convinced that weakening Israel’s retaliation against Hamas does the ally or the U.S. any long-term favors.

“You’re going to be responsible for the third famine crisis of the 21st century. That is not something we can accept as partners,” Sullivan told his Israeli counterparts during a virtual meeting this week on a future military operation in Rafah, a U.S. official recounted to POLITICO. “If you don’t have a proper plan for the day after, nothing will help you in dismantling Hamas. Not Rafah, not anything else.”

In a 30-minute call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday, the president delivered the bluntest warning yet that he was willing to condition U.S. aid. “U.S. policy with respect to Gaza will be determined by our assessment of Israel’s immediate action” on steps to address civilian harm and safety of aid workers, according to a White House readout.

“The president doesn’t get credit for being ‘privately enraged’ when he still refuses to use leverage to stop the [Israel Defense Forces] from killing and starving innocent people,” said Jon Favreau, a host of Pod Save America, in response to POLITICO’s Wednesday story that an “angry” Biden would not change course on Israel. “These stories only make him look weak.”

Observers suspect that the mounting pressure on Biden will eventually take its toll — and may have already done so.

“There was always going to be a point at which the Biden administration felt that the domestic and international cost of supporting Israel’s campaign in Gaza outweighed the benefit of what Israel was able to achieve on the ground, and it seems clear that we have reached that point,” said Michael Singh, a top Middle East official in George W. Bush’s White House.

Should’ve put pressure on Israel a long time ago to chill with the war crimes…but at least they are doing it now.
