Boston is just light years ahead of everyone this regular season…it’s weird I still don’t expect them to win

I think a lot of men of a certain age grew up using certain slurs, like the "F" word for gay people, as casual insults. Some of us learned along the years that it isn't cool to call people that, and purged it from our vocabulary. But it took time to adjust. Other people went halfway, learning not to say it in public but still using it in private. Sounds like Ishbia is in the latter camp. It's too bad. Has he apologized? He should. I don't think it is unforgivable, but I hope Ishbia learns to change and stop throwing this word around in his communications.

I think an apology and a promise to dump it from his vocab would be entirely appropriate and should take care of the problem.Mori Chu wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2024 8:34 amI think a lot of men of a certain age grew up using certain slurs, like the "F" word for gay people, as casual insults. Yeah, I don't use the word but I definitely grew up in the era where everything not cool was gay and that other F word was just used as an insult in a comedic way.
I also played smear the queer and it was even called that by my PE teachers lol.

I thought it was the C word that was the issue? Did he say the derogatory F word too? (I don't want to go listen again.)

Yeah, I was so confused. Did Marty post that without listening to what he actually said and made an assumption?
ETA: I just read Marty's post again. I guess he was just making a point about a different offensive gay slang word.

No, I saw the quote. My post was just making the point that certain slurs became common insult words. In my own experience, lots of boys would throw around the anti-gay "F" word as a common insult. I realize that that is not the word Ishbia used, but I was just acknowledging the general occurrence of using these words that nowadays should not be thrown around as taunts and insults.
Re: Suns News: Week 24 (4/1 - 4/7)
The other thing was this was a private message that got exposed. Seems like that's a factor as well. I mean, it doesn't excuse it but it's a lot different than him publicly saying it. I guess you could compare it to Donald Sterling and his exposed racist private conversations. But I think everybody is right that an apology is in order and for him to say he didn't mean it as a gay slur and it's an unfortunate word in his vocabulary that he's not proud of and he needs to remove.

Eubanks sucks. I'm ready for the Edey backup big minutes next year.
