Ugh…why couldn’t we have made this trade?

I have no idea what the Jazz are doing here, but yes it makes our trade look even worse

I bet there is more of this going on. We are in a very dangerous place, where you can literally gamble online on any specific stat from any specific player. The temptation is enormous for a player to take a bribe like, "Just get under 9 rebounds tonight and we'll pay you $500,000" or something of that nature. I worry that all the deeply integrated gambling stuff is going to corrupt the league and cause major problems. In general if I were in charge of the country, I would ban all these online betting sites like Fanduel, DraftKings, etc., but I know that's an extreme measure.
Yep, but most of these guys make too much money to even think about it. It's these more fringe players that are more susceptible. But as Pete Rose would tell you from the grave, it's not worth it.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

Wow, that Nurkic trade is wild. I would have loved to get Sexton for Nurk last year when we desperately dumped him. We threw in a 2026 1st round pick to get off his contract, and now Utah trades an actually useful player AND a 2nd to acquire him. Our FO cannot help but throw picks in trades like candy.

What utah is doing makes no sense, but we attached the 1st because we saved a ton of money. There’s no money saving going on here…though it does make me wonder if a 3-way deal could’ve been worked out to keep our 1st

Surprised by this. Wasn't Walker IV playing well for them? Why decline the option?

That's nuts. I feel like the Jazz would never have made that trade with us.

We don’t have any white centers. You’re right.

If we haven't called Utah about giving them pearly-white Grayson Allen in a trade, it's professional malpractice.

I think that’s a solid number for Smith. I would’ve been comfortable with that if he was in the trade.

Super cheap deal for them. That’s less than Green and RJ Barrett and is Monk level money.

It’s basically the equivalent of Grayson money…slightly above. Other guys with similar percentages of the cap: Lu Dort, Rui Hachimura, Kevin Huerter…it’ss great deal
