2025 Summer Suns

Post by ShelC »

Schedule below. Should be an entertaining week of games and give us a glimpse of the new offense and defense being installed. No word on the roster yet but hopefully we see Dunn, Oso, and Jalen Bridges along with our draft picks Maluach, Fleming and Brea. We've also signed Jordan Gainey from Tennessee and Mitch Mascari from Drake as UDFAs.

Mascari looks like he has NBA 3-point range -

I wonder who's coaching? Ott hasn't named his staff yet, right? Although we heard of at least one assistant. The former player, can't recall who it was.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

Gsainey can't shoot like Mascari or Brea, but looks like he has much better athleticism -

Didn't Westphal and Cotton coach the Summer league teams a lot? I personally like it when the head coach takes the time to do it.

DeMarre Carroll was the former player named as assistant coach.

If I remember right, first time head coach Hornacek coached our Summer league team. Maybe Ott will too.

Looks like Khalif Battle has been signed. 6th(!) year Senior who played at Butler, Temple, Arkansas and finished at Gonzaga. 6-5 180lb combo guard, noted for his defense and athleticism but streaky shooter. Kind of like Jalen Green but with defense?

He's two years older than Green is and Green has four years in the league!

I feel like comparing an old UDFA college player to a 23yo former #2 pick is disrespectful lol.

And a career 20 PPG scorer at that. Green may have some holes in his game, but he's still young and "green" as a player.

Yes, I hope he continues to grow and can become a verdant, well-rounded player.
