This reminds me of the offseason that McDonough got fired (2018).

"When are we going to get a point guard?"

"Are we even going to get a point guard?"

"I guess we're really going to play the season without a point guard."
"I'm a Deandre Ayton guy."--Al McCoy, September 21, 2022.

Having a competent point guard is huge. So glad the suns signed Gilly and decided that was enough.
Does the regular season start next week?
Giddey is not even a Sun yet. Just wait.

He didn't have a great showing tonight. Or much of a showing at all. Hit his first three, hit a nice turnaround jumper, and had a spin move to the hoop and that was about it.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

Not sure we should have been in such a rush to hand Huntley one of our 2-way spots.

He hasn't been great, or even necessarily any good, but Maluach plays with an irrational confidence that I appreciate.

This one was over by halftime. Carter and Clifford were the best players on the court. Clifford is already really good.

I don't really care that we lost. Our team is full of roleplaying bigs, which we need, but that's not a recipe for success in SL. Our guards aren't good and can barely get the ball over half court. Oso and Brea 2-17 combined. Brea's played a lot so maybe there was some fatigue there but I also think he was overmatched physically. Oso took a bunch of hook/flip shots that didn't go down but I liked him taking the shots. He's gotta make a few tho. Still, he was doing a bit of everything else as he has been.

Dunn was really good again and was able to pick his spots in the offense. He's just not a guy who can carry a team, even this one, offensively.

Maluach looked more settled in, much better than the first game, played bigger. Agree about his confidence, especially on offense.

Fleming was kind of just running around out there, which is to be expected. Real good frame and athleticism tho, close to 6-10 235lbs.

The short memory he has is great, just keep going. Definitely needs a year in the NBA before we can expect anything though.

I think this is why Richards will stay on the team. Maluach needs a year to develop, even in the G League for a bit. Williams and Richards can hold down the middle for most of this year if healthy.

It was interesting to see David from Twitter’s cap sheets that showed we will actually be slightly out of the tax if we don’t fill the 15th roster spot. Think that allows us to keep Richards and dump him later if need be to avoid the tax….

One thing to note, part of being under the tax depends on missing the playoffs. If we make the playoffs, Royce and Brooks have bonuses that kick in and would take us over the tax line. So maybe the plan is to keep the current team and then dump Richards if it seems we might make the playoffs haha
