Around the NBA: Week 7 (12/1 - 12/7)
Re: Around the NBA: Week 7 (12/1 - 12/7)
You never want to be old and slow. That's what we were last year and that's what the Clippers are now.

But would you give him playing time? I'd be happy to have him on the roster, but I'd make it clear that he's be behind Bouyea in the depth chart.Wally_West wrote: ↑Wed Dec 03, 2025 8:57 amI’m absolutely fine signing Chris Paul.It wasn’t like he was team cancer or some shit. The complete opposite of that. The Paul trade might’ve been the best trade in franchise history.
To me, he deserves to be in our ring of honor. His choice was to retire here but we told him no essentially, I dont think he would expect any rotation minutes, I think he knows what his role would be here, mentor the young guys. Him leading garbage time minutes with the rookies would actually be fun imo.
I feel like our player reputation took a hit the last couple years, this would be nice gesture to do right for an all time great, who also is a franchise legend.
This my speculation, but I genuinely think he was the most happiest playing here, which is why specifically wanted to finish his career here.
I understand basketball wise and financially, why we would want to keep our options open, but personally, I’d be happy for him to retire a sun.
If NOP had any sense (they don't), they would beg CP to come back and mentor Fears and Missi.

No rotation minutes for Chris Paul he only play in garbage time with the rookies and young players. Him orchestrating dunks and freebies to Maluach and Flemming would be totally worth it imo.

I could get behind that.

OK, here we go:
Sources - Chris Paul, Ty Lue weren't on speaking terms ahead of PG's ouster

I've always loved CP3 since he was at Wake Forest. Just exactly what you want from a point guard. I think the Clippers dumping him like this says more about their team than anything having to do with an "abrasive leadership style". If he was fine being more in an end-of-bench mentorship role, I'd love to have him back here, but it might be redundant with what Brooks and Nash seem to be currently providing.
Re: Around the NBA: Week 7 (12/1 - 12/7)
The CP stuff is what I was concerned with this offseason when there was talk of wanting him back here. He's a strong personality and it would've been risky with him next to a first time coach. Lue's a veteran coach and that's a veteran team. Right or wrong, they're not going to want to hear him getting on them. And when you're a coach, it's a tightrope calling guys out and holding them accountable when you risk losing the lockerroom. I don't think CP is the reason the Clips aren't any good, but sometimes you gotta read the room.

I don't want CP back exactly because I don't know how it would be within the locker room. But that's no way to treat the best player to ever play for them.

I would've taken CP3 as our coach. I don't want him

The ESPN article made me think, who is the Clippers' all-time leader in points scored? I'll put the answer in a spoiler tag.Paul is the Clippers' franchise leader in total assists and steals per game.
Spoiler: show/hide

CP3's Laker bound... he can reteam with his favorite teammate of all time.

And remember when we wanted Lue as a possible coach for the Suns?
