Bobster's Trivia Corner
Re: Bobster's Trivia Corner
Ok here’s a fun one:
Can you name the 6 players that have the following career numbers?
20,000 points
4,000 rebounds
4,000 assists
1,000 steals
1,000 blocks
Bonus points for guessing the 7th guy who should join this group this year.

On November 10, 1990 the Suns set an NBA-record for first-half points and second quarter points en route to a record-tying 173-143 win over the Denver Nuggets (Believe it or not, the Suns didn't attempt a 3-point field goal the entire game). How many points did they score in the first half and the second quarter?
NBA TRIVIA
Four players in NBA history have played in NBA All-Star Game representing four different teams. Three of the four represented the Suns in the All-Star Game, the one who didn't play for the Suns also played in an ABA All-Star Game for a 5th team. Who are these four players?

Off the dome, KG, TD, Dream, Bron, Kareem, Mailman all seem like locks, not sure who could be next KD or Russ maybe?

Re: Bobster's Trivia Corner
I had forgotten about the 10-day guys and came up with one more so there are actually 7. One was actually a starter for half a year and then came back to the team a few years later. The other's career highlight was a game-winning buzzer beater here which he shot over that half-year starter after they had traded him.LazarusLong wrote: ↑Sat Dec 20, 2025 12:05 pmI dug up five under 6-0 (includes 10-day contracts)

Re: Bobster's Trivia Corner
Well done, except the Hawks were something of a trick question, They played the 1949-50 season as the Tri-City Blackhaks and then played a year as the Tri-Cities Blackhawks before moving to Milwaukee.LazarusLong wrote: ↑Sat Dec 20, 2025 11:59 amWizards:

I find it an odd coincidence that each franchise had won one championship, but all under a name they no longer use.
The Kings actually started play in 1923 as the Seagrams before joining the NBL in 1945 (two of their NBL players are pretty well know - Cleveland Browns quarterback Otto Graham and tv's Rifleman Chuck Connors) . The Royals and Lakers where the two teams that the BAA wanted to poach from the NBL in 1948 because each of them had one of the top stars in basketball - the Lakers had George Mikan of course, and the Royals had Bob Davies (Davies was also the inspiration for a popular series of books starring children's sports character, Chip Hilton). Davies is one of the forgotten early stars of the NBA. He made the Silver Anniversary team in 1971, but was left off the 50th & 75th anniverary teams (as was Joe Fulks).

Re: Bobster's Trivia Corner
Also, I chose Bob Davies as one of the players for the cover of my first self-published book in 1999, mainly because he was a forgotten star and I had already drawn pictures of him and Bobby McDermott.

Re: Bobster's Trivia Corner
The buzzer beater one must be Tyler Ulis. How could we have forgotten Booker's best friend, we should all be ashamed. I think if I remember right he hit that shot over Isaiah Thomas? The Bobster wrote: ↑Sat Dec 20, 2025 1:47 pmI had forgotten about the 10-day guys and came up with one more so there are actually 7. Re: Bobster's Trivia Corner
I was so focused on digging up obscure players, I forgot recent starters.
Ulis at 5-10 and Thomas at 5-9 (some say 5-8)
Thomas was the most accomplished, having a good year in Charlotte and a great two-year stretch with the Celtics.
"Bug" Grant led Division III in scoring in 1989 with Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey). Grant set the Division III NCAA record for points in a season with 1,044 in 1988-89 as well as the highest scoring average at 30.6 ppg. He scored 50 or more points twice while at (then) Trenton State.

I read most of the books in the series when I was in middle school. Author was Clair Bee, an iconic East Coast college basketball coach in the '30s and '40s.

Re: Bobster's Trivia Corner
KG, TD, Bron,Kareem, and Mailman are correct. No on Hakeem. I’m guessing he doesn’t have the assists. KD actually is already apart of the group. The 7th guy joining this year should be Giannis, assuming he plays enough haha. He needs 23 steals.

The missing one has gotta be Julius Erving. I think he was the 1st 1,000 Steal/1,000 block guy.Split T wrote: ↑Sun Dec 21, 2025 5:20 pmKG, TD, Bron,Kareem, and Mailman are correct. No on Hakeem. Re: Bobster's Trivia Corner
I actually missed Julius Erving. I think my filter probably didn’t include ABA…but ya he should definitely be on the list.
I think maybe we got them all…KD was the missing one for TOO.
1. Lebron
2. KG
3. Duncan
4. Kareem
5. Karl Malone
6. Kevin Durant
Bonus: Dr J
Giannis soon.

Re: Bobster's Trivia Corner
Are we meant to guess at these trivia questions blind, or are people Googling / Gippity-ing the answers? I assumed that Google would make most of these questions trivial, but I also don't know how someone would get exactly the right answer to some of these without any assistance.
Re: Bobster's Trivia Corner
You're not supposed to get them perfect. What fun is googling the answers? I'd take my best guess and then see how you did when the results are posted.Mori Chu wrote: ↑Mon Dec 22, 2025 10:40 amAre we meant to guess at these trivia questions blind, or are people Googling / Gippity-ing the answers? Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.
Re: Bobster's Trivia Corner
I think we should start with going in blind, but Bobster is gonna have some tricky ones that might lead us to needing to google haha

Re: Bobster's Trivia Corner
I will try not to get to out of hand! I figured the players selected to the most All-Star games for different teams would be something that would be figured out if you ask yourself what stars have been the most transient. I will make sure to keep in mind that most fans also haven't been following the team for 50 years.
As for my Julius Erving guess he wouldn't make the 4,000 assists if you don't include his ABA stats and since the NBA doesn't recognize ABA stats he probably shouldn't be included.
