Pistons' Achilles heel: 3 pt. shooting.
Suns 38% from the arc, Detroit 21%

A fun team to watch again. A trade or two away from being a serious contender...

Was there any game last year where KD just played hard? Has there been a game this season where I've thought anyone didn't play hard?

KD always plays like a snob. Like he's too good to play against anyone else in the league and they should jut move over and let him shoot.wpmiller42 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 29, 2026 9:34 pmWas there any game last year where KD just played hard? Seriously, Brooks should get Most Improved Player votes. Gillispie is the more obvious choice, but Brooks is playing like a max level guy right now.

I love this fucking team.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

We've had a lot of good wins this year, this one is up there. It was a team win and a really complete win. There were stretches of great basketball on offense and defense - we broke it open in the first half with our subs, they punched back in the 3rd to cut the lead to 3, we tightened up and built the lead back up to 15+. The game two weeks ago we were also missing Book and let that one slip away. I think our guys came into this one looking to make the statement that they could handle the Pistons.
A lot of good all around - Brooks not only got hot, but stayed hot. I was worried he'd go cold in the 2nd half because he can just as easily go 1-12 as he can 10-11. But nothing was stopping him and most of the night he played within himself. Only forced a few shots, let others initiate the offense instead of grabbing the ball and ISOing for 20 seconds. 3pt, middy and his drives were all working, then you had the defense which goes without saying. Glad he had this kind of night with the tshirt giveaway. He made it a point to impact the game.
CG and Allen 9-23 from 3, helped control the game running offense and Allen was 10-10 from the FT line which was huge. Both guys worked hard to get open for shots but the Pistons' defense was really good crowding them. Allen's downhill play helped negate them running him off the 3pt line. Royce came up big late in the game with some 3s to close it out.
Our bench dominated - Bouyea, Goodie and Oso were gamechangers on both ends, especially in the 1st half. Pistons couldn't stay in front of Bouyea, Goodie had whoever he was guarding in hell, and Oso was usually getting the better of Stewart. Oso's playing bigger, moving quickly and decisively on defense. Dunn and Livers had some good moments in limited time - Dunn with a tough corner 3 and Livers with about 3 ORs in a possession.
I don't know if it was part of the overall strategy to let the Pistons (Duren) dominate the paint and just stay out on shooters but it did work. Cade got to the FT line but I didn't think he dominated us. Harris hit a few shots early but seemed agitated all game and never really got it going. We locked up Robinson.
Unfortunately, Williams was almost non-existent this game and it's the 2nd time he's been outplayed against the Pistons. Duren dominated him inside and Oso was much better for us (against Stewart at least). Might just be a matchup thing or how we were executing the gameplan.

Didn't get to watch this one last night, and just pulled up the score before going to sleep. Damn, I did not expect to see a win.
Now I'm watching a replay while I work. The heart of this team, man. The heart.

I've got just a few comments. First I'm sure the Pistons are glad they only have to play the Suns twice and that they don't have to do it again. I think they know they dodged a bullet when we played them in Detroit. Also I bet they are thinking that if the #7 in the west is this hard getting to the Finals might be pointless.
I'm also thinking that in the west that the Suns are the team NO ONE wants to come up against in the playoffs.
