If NCAA rules weren't so draconian they probably wouldn't have to worry about losing so many players to the NBA.

If there was a system where they could profit off their likeness or by signing autographs for a reasonable amount they might be more inclined to stay.

But I still don't think the colleges should be in the business of big-time sports. On that level it just reeks of corruption.

The problem is, a whole class of people is not getting paid because a monopolist has set that policy.

Don't give us that D-league crap. The NCAA is a monopoly. Its presence basically eliminates other non-NBA basketball as a serious moneymaking venture in this country.

outside of the march madness (18 days total), college basketball is not a money making operation except for a few rivalry games like duke vs NC. or kentucky vs whoever their regional rival is.

If you want to get fair pay for play when you're not at NBA level, or are subject to the NBA's age policy, you have to leave the country. If you want to stay here, you're stuck with what the NCAA system is offering: free tuition and exposure for your play.

playing overseas for ONE YEAR. or play in the dleague for ONE YEAR. or college ball for free for 1 year. is that too hard?

i really hope these young kids are realistic about pursuing an nba career. there wont be any jobs increase at the nba anytime soon. the nba job slots for bball players is stuck at 30 x 15.

wish they would use playing college basketball as a way to get an education, instead of the other way around.

Nobody's saying every crappy NCAA player deserves guaranteed riches that will bankrupt their colleges. Just remove the restrictions on compensating them and let them get what the market will bear.

they gain more from playing college basketball than colleges gain from having them around. those who are good will turn pro after one year and get their endorsements. those who dont are benefitting more from staying in college. if they are good enough to get endorsements, they wont stay in college.
