If we get a deal on Williams, fine. If not, move on.

What the hell is Ott even saying about everything on deck. The guy literally just talks in templated responses without any substance whatsoever. Hes a Key and Peele skit
I'm told he delights in driving phx-suns.net's specialsauce crazy.

I just really hope we trade him for a SG or undersized SF to fill an obvious whole in our rotation

Team already has an obvious whole lot of those.

This is true. No Dort or Caruso-level defenders on that Nuggets team but he’s not the same guy.

This guy on Suns reddit made a cool chart of our season and its memorable moments. Fun to look back at all this.

Unfortunately, most of the good stuff took place in the first 2/3 of the season. We kind of petered out at the end. Well, here's to a great off-season and an even better next season.

Given that we are only starting 4 guards, there’s at least room for one more, don’t dare the coaching staff with it.

There’s definitely some truth to it, but watching Book against Denver in that clip really shows the difference in defense…I wish OKC defended Booker the way Denver did.

The million dollar question for me is, why did we peter out at the end? It may not be one answer but was it general fatigue and guys like CG hitting the wall? Brooks' and Williams' injuries hurting our flow and momentum? Overall injuries forcing guys to overextend themselves with minutes? Did the rest of the league catch up? Did we just regress to the mean? Did the coaching staff run out of ideas or were they unwilling to adjust?

These are things the FO has to find out (or they know already) in order to determine the strategy in the offseason and moving forward.

The had a hard time putting a consistent lineup on the floor with Allen, Green, Brooks and Williams all missing large chunks of it. I don't think they had a game all year without at least one rotation player missing.

I'll add that they started stumbling at the same time that Green came back. Not saying for sure its his fault, but the timing is there and I'm am sure that we will have plenty of discussion this summer about whether he fits what the Suns are doing.
"Hey, Jane - get me off this crazy thing called love." - Charlie, but also Suns fans wishing we didn't have to watch more 4th quarter small ball but knowing we will tune in for the next game.

The green situation is interesting…. I think he’s got a lot of upside because of his age and think we’re better off continuing with him and the young core, and move book for the front court pieces we desperately need to balance out this roster.

I don't think Green is a guy you want to build around. I don't hate him, I think he's a great young scorer with elite athleticism but I think we'd tire of him quickly as a main offensive threat.

IMO our swoon roughly lines up with Mark Williams and Grayson Allen being out for extended periods, followed by Jalen Green becoming active. Both Williams and Allen had generally great seasons.

I think Grayson in particular is a player fans kind of slept on this year but quietly put together a very impressive season. He averaged 16.5 ppg this year (up from 10.6 last year) along with 3.8 assists (up from 2.1 last year). I thought he was an excellent second guard for us, especially during the first half of the season or so. I much prefer the fit with Grayson and Booker vs Jalen Green and Booker. Grayson shoots and scores, like Green, but he isn't a ball stopper or chucker and he makes much better decisions. Plus his shooting (especially from 3) is much better. He doesn't have the same slashing and aggressiveness Green has, but I'll take Grayson's qualities over Green's any day.

Mark Williams's stats don't jump off the page quite as much, but he did give us 11.7 ppg on .644 FG%, along with 8 rebounds. He also played pretty good defense at the rim. He was a traditional big man in a way that neither Oso nor Maluach could be (Maluach may get there in time). You could really feel the change in the character of our team late this season once Williams was out; suddenly we were going "small ball" with a lot of Oso and other small centers. I really like Oso but I don't think we have a very high ceiling if he is starting or getting huge minutes against most teams. The foot injury for Williams is concerning, but I would still like to try to re-sign him so long as it isn't for too many years or too much $$$. Hopefully the injury will depress his FA value a bit and make it easier for us to keep him on a friendly contract.

I think it'd be a mistake to give up on either of the above two guys. If we have to ship out a rotation piece for picks or cap space, my vote would go to Jalen Green and/or Royce O'Neale. I think Jalen is fool's gold, a net negative with his bad shot selection and ball-stopping. I like Royce a lot but I think he's a bit of a luxury and his production can be replaced by others on the roster, plus his iffy defense makes him a liability imo.

Feels like we're stuck between a rock and hard place with Williams. We gave up two picks to get him, we don't have a viable replacement at the moment, and even tho he's restricted we still have to find a good number that works for both sides. He's maybe just above average as a starting center but you can't rely on him to stay on the court.

Allen was great to start the season but if he can't stay healthy, he's just another guy on the wrong side of 30 we may not be able to move later.
