Game Day (Playoffs Round 1, Game 4): Thunder (3-0) @ Suns (0-3), Mon 4/27/26

Post by Superbone »

Time: 6:30 pm AZ (6:30 pm PT/9:30 pm ET)
Place: Mortgage Matchup Center, Phoenix, AZ
TV: NBC/Peacock

Welp,it's been fun hanging out with y'all this season. It was way better than expected but is going out in a whimper against the defending floppers champions. What we should do is feature our youth and future. Start Fleming and Maluach along with Book, Brooks, and Green. What we will do: Same ol', same ol'. Small ball plus Oso. Maybe Fleming will get in before the last 2 minutes though. It may get out of hand early in which case I could see it. Let's hope we at least go out swinging.

I think we have a lot of pride and think we'll eke this one out.

I'd love to see it but even if we are firing on all cylinders, I think OKC and SGA are that good that we still can't overcome them. Plus, OKC has the refs on their side. They buy every flop hook, line, and sinker. While Book can get tripped by a known tripper and go tumbling to the ground without them batting an eyelash. Almost impossible to overcome that combination of reffing.

I just want to thank Superbone for making all these Game Day threads all season long. I know others have stepped in and made a few game day threads (thank you!) but Boney has been Mr. Reliable getting these threads up on time with descriptions and details and links. It really adds a lot to the site and is a great service. Thank you, Superbone! <3

As for this specific game, our guys have a lot of pride and I could see them putting out their best effort tonight, but I think the gap between us and OKC is just that big. You add in the ref-baiting and the 8-on-5 aspect, plus our injuries, plus Book deciding to be a beta for some reason, plus Coach Ott not choosing to play the rooks, and I think we basically just have no chance.

But that's okay. Making it this far is enough for this season. I haven't gotten upset about any of the losses in this series because it has never been about a playoff "run" this year to me. I don't like the phrase "just happy to be here" but, yeah, we're basically just happy to be here, to have qualified for the playoffs, to have gotten this far. We proved a lot of haters and doubters wrong and far exceeded expectations. Hopefully we can build on that and improve in the offseason and come back strong next year.

I have one desire tonight: change the starting lineup, and beyond just Goodwin for CG

Just to add a little perspective, OKC has swept their first round series the previous two years. There's no shame in losing although it would be a bummer to have been swept in the first round our last two times we've been here. Thanks KD.

I agree, the gap and the matchup decisions will be too much. Besides, OKC would want to be the rested team, if they think LA can close it on wednesday with the 4th-5th matchup 3-1 and the next game on LA.

I just realized the game is on Peacock. I had to make a monthly account that I will cancel after tonight. I really, really hate having to pay all these different services to just watch one team.

Especially if Oso if fouling him out at the 3-point line.

Watching on a slight delay...finally puts in Maluach. Refs back at it, though.
