Shockingly agile? This I truly don't see. He moves alright in straight line, but when I say agility I mean direction changes, acceleration/deceleration and footwork. Would you say he is excellent at those traits? Btw I acknowledge that he is not the proverbial stiff. And for the record, I am not saying to plain dump him or that he is going to be a 100% bust; just that I would not consider him untouchable this offseason.virtual9mm wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2026 10:52 amYet, his defensive impact, even in his current, undeveloped form, is impossible to ignore. Pretty much everything you mentioned is addressable with more reps and body work. And he is already able to defend in space. I am not sure where the concerns about the lack of agility come from...he's shockingly agile for his size.

For how ginormous he is, yes -- he is shockingly agile considering that he can actually defend in space. Of course, his massive wingspan enables this. But you could say the same of Garnett.Ring_Wanted wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2026 2:39 amShockingly agile? This I truly don't see. Re: 2026 Offseason
I would say the only true untouchables should be Booker and Fleming. Booker for obvious reasons and Fleming because he might be Shai type case.
Maluach would be 3rd on my list, not untouchable, but I wouldn't move him for just anything. If it means Giannis, I'd do it, because we have no draft picks and we'd have to include something of promise. But I wouldn't trade him for a role player that just feels a need.

Re: 2026 Offseason
Would there be any interest in a Jalen Green for Franz Wagner trade? The salaries allow a straight up trade 1 for 1. With Orlando's current turmoil they may be looking for a change. Wagner is listed as a SF, but is 6'10". That gets us more size. Thoughts?
Re: 2026 Offseason
"Hey, Jane - get me off this crazy thing called love." - Charlie, but also Suns fans wishing we didn't have to watch more 4th quarter small ball but knowing we will tune in for the next game.
Re: 2026 Offseason
I would love it, but we’d need to add more I think. Franz is better and bigger…Green in Orlando does make some sense though.
Re: 2026 Offseason
They’ve kinda been victory lapping about the team…might be referring to that. Hopefully it’s just because it’s the 1st year of this new identity and it was more successful than anticipated. I hope we get back to just evaluating the team by itself and not in comparison to previous shitty teams…it’ll be easy to have success if the 2024-25 team is the baseline to beat.

Sure sounds like a good fit, although I've never seen him play. He is certainly a better shooter than Oso -- although still subpar.
Would Green and Dunn be considered enough?

Green and Dunn works straight up also.virtual9mm wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2026 8:03 amSure sounds like a good fit, although I've never seen him play. He is certainly a better shooter than Oso -- although still subpar.

But it isn't. This team and past season is now the baseline.Split T wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2026 7:58 amThey’ve kinda been victory lapping about the team…might be referring to that. We peaked before the all star break and totally wore down as the season went on. There are some serious concerns with the roster structurally. But to listen to the press conferences it almost seems like everyone stopped evaluating the team as soon as things went south despite the second half of the season providing totally valid data points. I mean, what was the last win we had against a non-tanking team? Do we have any evidence that Booker-Green works as a backcourt?
I’m fine with them posturing for leverage purposes as long as they’re realistic behind closed doors. Continuity and scrappiness will only get us so far without the requisite talent.

Re: 2026 Offseason
I hope they haven't deluded themselves into thinking it was just injuries and fatigue for our late season dive. The "we just need a full season from Green and Williams" thinking is fool's gold.

Re: 2026 Offseason
I would absolutely do this, but I think Orlando wouldn't. And sadly I think Ishbia/Gregory will overrate Green this summer and ignore/rebuff sensible trades for him like this one.
Re: 2026 Offseason
Like I keep saying, this off-season is going to be very interesting. Are they posturing for leverage purposes or do they mean it and our roster stays mostly intact going into next season? Time will tell. I hope our youngsters DO take large strides next season but is that enough to take us up a notch? We have to achieve at least 5th or 6th seed next season in order for it to be a success. If we remain, 7th or 8th or worse we were stagnant at best.

Re: 2026 Offseason
Dunn and Green for the Wagner bros, id do that in a heart beat!!!
Re: 2026 Offseason
Franz has a lot more value than Green…that trade isn’t happening unless we are attaching stuff we won’t want to give up.
Re: 2026 Offseason
Green and Bane are also not a great fit. Kind of like Green and Booker.

Re: 2026 Offseason
Franz and Banchero are the Magic cornerstones. Don't think they're going anywhere, unless it's for, say, Giannis.
A fun team to watch again. A trade or two away from being a serious contender...
Re: 2026 Offseason
I think I'm going to take Ishbia's comments at face value. I'd be surprised if we made a major move before next season. I'm pretty much expecting the same team next season maybe with a few small roster tweaks at most. I do think we'll be a bigger and better rebounding team just by playing Fleming, Dunn, and Maluach more.
What are the roster holes you want filled this summer?
Ishbia: I feel we have the right players in place, the right coach (Jordan Ott) in place, but they have to get better. Everyone has to get better. Everyone has got to improve. Sometimes, the feeling is "I got to go get this guy that does this," but what if my guy can already do that? He just has to continue to get better. We have a young, ascending team. So when you look at players like Rasheer for example, 21-year-old kid. Maluach, 19-year-old kid. Can they grow and fill some gaps like defensive rebounding and other things? Can they do that, and can we also have different schemes and how does the coach modify things to make it so we’re better at things?
I think a lot of times, looking externally is not always the right answer especially when you have the great camaraderie, great culture, great identity that we have. I feel good about what we have right now. If there’s an opportunity to find another player, we will do that, but I like our team and I think we’re going to get better next year. If we have less injuries and we have more continuity and our players did a little better, could we go from 45 to 48 to 50 wins, where would we be? Next thing you know, you’re a top-five seed and you’re winning a playoff series. How do you develop to that level?
