NBA Playoffs: 1st Round
Re: NBA Playoffs (first round) thread
Not one person thought bad player really. Just bad fit. All you need to do is post him up every time down the floor. Saw the Bucks do it recently. Absurdly easy. No clue why every coach doesn't do it every time down & force Stevens to take him odd the floor.

Ha! Earl Clark is still in the league and playing for Brooklyn. He had his first shot, a three pointer, blocked by Al Horford.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

This Clips/Spurs game ... LA crowd came out rowdy. They want blood. Man, I really want the Spurs to win this series.
Re: NBA Playoffs (first round) thread
This dude Baynes on the Spurs, he's a shining example of what a great system and great player development they have. He has almost no talent, but he knows exactly where to go, and he rolls to the hoop after setting good screens, so he finds himself getting wide open layups and dunks all game.

Kawhi is gonna be a big star in this league
Re: NBA Playoffs (first round) thread
jordan has taken the most number of free throws tonight, but it doesnt matter. spurs are going down.
Re: NBA Playoffs (first round) thread
Don't look now, but here come the Spurs. Down by 9 with 7 and a half to play
Re: NBA Playoffs (first round) thread
Followed by massive plays by Blake and CP3, then a Boris air ball and that little run is done.Gladiator wrote:Don't look now, but here come the Spurs. Down by 9 with 7 and a half to play

Don't look now, but here come the Spurs. Down by 1 with 6 games to play.

Lol - you got me there! I must have been having flashbacks to previous Suns-Spurs series, when we would have let that run turn into a tight game in the final 2 minutes and a heart-breaking loss.Cap wrote:Don't look now, but here come the Spurs. Down by 1 with 6 games to play.
Re: NBA Playoffs (first round) thread
Clippers came out fired up as hell. They really are a bunch of thug bitches though. Hate that team. I wish they could have played the Rockets in a series and then somehow both lost.
Re: NBA Playoffs (first round) thread
spurs will pay the price for not securing any homecourt adv in the west.
Re: NBA Playoffs (first round) thread
do you think manu, duncan and pop retires if the spurs get eliminated in round 1?
Re: NBA Playoffs (first round) thread
Yeah, I don't mean to over-interpret from a single game. But the Spurs have a huge mountain to climb. They have to beat this frisky Clippers team, then face the Rockets/Mavs winner (which I think they could handle if they are able to beat the Clips), then beat the Warriors, ALL without homecourt advantage. It'd be one thing if they looked phenomenal right now, but they look a little gimpy and banged up. Tony Parker and Manu don't seem to be themselves. Duncan looks great and Kawhi is back to normal, but I am not sure whether the other guys are ready.SDC wrote:spurs will pay the price for not securing any homecourt adv in the west.
That game #82 loss to the Pelicans was really telling to me. The Spurs REALLY wanted that win. They would have had the 2 seed and a much better playoff path. They weren't able to beat a borderline playoff team when they really needed a win; what does that say?
Really hard to say. It feels like we're near the end. Would hate to see them go out eliminated in the first round, though. I want to see one more deep run for them.SDC wrote:do you think manu, duncan and pop retires if the spurs get eliminated in round 1?
Re: NBA Playoffs (first round) thread
The Pelicans have played Golden State pretty tough in game 2 but are falling apart down the stretch - too much one-on-one hero ball stuff resulting in contested jumpers (kinda like the Suns' default offense for much of the season)
Re: NBA Playoffs (first round) thread
NOLA's offense has been pretty bad all year. I was personally hoping George Karl would be hired this off season, but I did not see a mid-season hire from Sacramento coming. I think Alvin Gentry would be a good fit. Oddly, Williams has a lot of support here. I don't really understand why as he's proven time and again that he doesn't have the chops to succeed at this level. Davis really likes him though so that probably helps.

Williams helped Ryan Anderson through some very difficult times. Anderson last year discovered his girlfriend had committed suicide --- he actually found her body. Williams got Anderson professional help and gave him a lot of slack for recovery mode. What Williams may lack as a coach he more than compensates as a person. Players all have his back, because they know he has theirs.
Well, so much for hopes and dreams ...

I think the Wizards are better than advertised. They are going to beat the Raptors here in the first round, and then I honestly think they could give the Hawks a run for their money in round 2. I could even see them facing the Cavs in the ECF, though that sounds a little crazy.
