2015 NBA Draft
Re: 2015 NBA Draft
Patric Young might play on our SL team. Brute, phyiscal specimen from Florida who went undrafted and played in Turkey and Italy. I liked him a lot in Florida...limited and a bit undersized but physical. I'd like that type of player next to Len. Tough, imposing player. Feel like we need that.

I'm pretty sure we lost that player in our trade with the Bucks.In2ition wrote:I would prefer a high bballiq pass first pg for this team

That was a clustermess from the get go. Let's use a first rounder to draft a guy who's gonna play in the D-League and then trade before he gets a chance to develop.
Especially when there were available guys like Clint Capela (you're welcome, Inf) and Mitch McGarry who could have played and helped the team in some capacity.
A fun team to watch again. A trade or two away from being a serious contender...

Bigger, stronger, more aggressive, but not as skilled PJ Tucker. His best career trajectory follows PJ's lead.ShelC wrote:Patric Young might play on our SL team. This is the problem with stubbornly choosing BPA without any regard to roster. If a player is clearly the BPA, fine, pick him. But if its close, pick the player that you can reasonably develop.LazarusLong wrote:iLLmatic wrote:I'm pretty sure we lost that player in our trade with the Bucks.In2ition wrote:I would prefer a high bballiq pass first pg for this team

Because he is bigger, but he is still the same type of player.ShelC wrote:Except young is a 4.
Re: 2015 NBA Draft
So that makes him no good?
Re: 2015 NBA Draft
I think INF's guy Jerian Grant is really high on McD's radar. Fits his combo guard profile and we need a back-up 1.
Re: 2015 NBA Draft
If I never see another "combo guard" again it'll be too soon.

Womp womp. That's half the league.Mori Chu wrote:If I never see another "combo guard" again it'll be too soon.

Re: 2015 NBA Draft
Yeah, but give me a true PG any day, and a true SG who can really stroke it. I love Washington's backcourt, for example. I'd take that one over any other in the league, if I were starting a team. (Golden State obviously wins the best backcourt award right now, I just meant, if I were trying to build a team up to become a contender.)
Re: 2015 NBA Draft
One could argue MVP runner-up is also a combo guard, DWade was a combo guard. I don't have a problem with combo guards, I have a problem with our combo guards.
Re: 2015 NBA Draft
Well, yes, there are some amazing "combo" guards out there. But they're basically SGs who can dribble really well, or PGs who can shoot amazingly well. But a lot of guys who are labeled as "combo" guards aren't really good enough to be either. They don't quite dribble or pass well enough to be a PG and they don't shoot well enough to be a SG.
Re: 2015 NBA Draft
So, in other words, you don't like bad guards. Got it.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.
Re: 2015 NBA Draft
Yes. And I will henceforth refer to any guard I don't like as a "combo" guard as a pejorative.

So far it's Booker and Jerian Grant.

Re: 2015 NBA Draft
Article today says McD is looking for a versatile PG to play off the bench and will consider options with our draft pick. Not sure how I feel...we have two "versatile PGs" and Archie who still needs minutes to develop. Never found that balance with IT, Dragic and Bledsoe. And even then, can't we just sign a veteran with the minimum for that role? Mo WIlliams, Hinrich? We need some veterans, not another rook PG.
