I need to just go pick it up at the used bookstore, I've checked it out twice from the library and I never can finish it by the time the counter runs out.

But there was a pretty huge thing that happened in the show and not the books last week, in addition to the thing that we already talked about, and not related to the thing Dan asked about.

ENORMOUS. And honestly, I can't believe they went there. It's long been a book reader theory but to see them spell it out like that... Also that they basically hit on it twice. Once in the talk between Petyr and Sansa and then again with Ser Barristan and Dany.

That was actually not what I was thinking about, but yeah, you win. The branch I spoke of actually started in the previous episode, so I guess I was technically wrong.
I think at this point Jon's parentage is almost a given. There have been so many clues dropped that it would be a colossal disappointment if he weren't a Targaryen.
The one thing I have been running over in my head . . . what would the reactions of some of the other characters be if/when the truth comes out?
Given Stannis' obvious respect for Jon, how does he react when it's revealed that Jon has a far better claim to the throne than he?
Another gut punch that I could see happening if/when Dany and Jon ever meet . . . who's to say that Jon doesn't have the ability to communicate/relate with dragons as he does with his dire wolf? There's already been rampant speculation that Bran will warg into one of the dragons at some point . . . how does Dany react if Jon walks up and Drogon, oh, I don't know, rolls over to let him scratch his belly like a puppy, LOL?

It's explicitly stated in the books that dragons will only allow one person to ever ride them. So, Jon might be able to give a belly scratch...but Drogon is hers forever.
One of the other two, though...
I think it more likely that if/when Jon and Dany team up, Jon will still respect his oath to the Wall. That makes any direct involvement in the affairs of the kingdoms forbidden, BUT, if the book plot stays true, Ramsay Bolton will be attacking the Wall soon enough. So, that would seem to render that part of the oath moot, which might allow Jon a loophole to provide more direct support. But more likely, he'll be using a dragon to fight off the Others.
Yeah, no worries on book spoilers as I have general idea of what's happen. I had forgotten about her flying off at the end of the last book.
Another thing that occured to me . . .
King's blood is important to Melisandre and her magic, that's why she wanted Gendry. Could be another hint as to why she's trying to get in Jon's pants.
That is actually a very interesting theory. If she can get knocked up by the rightful ruler...and she's definitely the type to kill her own spawn for her lord of light.
By the way, when I read the part in the book where Tyrion got pulled underwater by the Stonemen, I was about ready to hunt down GRRM and murder him personally.
If the show follows the books, Jon is going to be betrayed and attacked by some of the Night's Watch. Presumably bleeding to death at the end of the finale . . .
Now there's been lots of assumptions that Melisandre will somehow heal him or even restore him to life (a la Thoros of Myr). If/when she does so, will she recognize that he has king's blood?
And when she does, will she try to burn him?
And if she tries to burn him . . . . assuming that Jon, like Dany, is the son of Rhaegar, what happens?
I know he was badly burnt when he was defending Mormont from the wight, but is there something 'different' about Targs when exposed to magical fire?

She wouldn't burn the Azor Ahai! So I think he will be safe from burning. I totally think they will leave it as a big cliff hanger for the season finale whether he is dead or not too, the dicks!
Also does anyone think Ollie is going to be one of the assholes that helps in the stabbings? Me thinks so, haha.
