Awesome Sauce. Well deserved and great way to kick off the year.

The last time we inducted an amazing PG we were up by 20 at the half and still lost. Let's hope for a win this time.

Wish I could be there for that one. You guys should do a Phx-Suns.net meet up for it.

I remember that. KJ induction. Sacramento with Webber killed us in the second half, right?

Yes. Well I don't remember which players killed us but that sounds right. Was a fun game to attend until the 2nd half.

It felt like Hedo killed us that game, iirc.

Huge fan of this. Love me some Nash, wish he would be a part of the organization somehow, but he's doing other things and doing them well.

Hedo killed us alright. I just don't know how he killed us more, when he played against us or when he played for us.

Nash totally deserves it.

That would be ok with me, except Friday nights are historically my second busiest work day of the week. If I have it off I would go. I could get caught up on the Suns since I have avoided them all summer.

I like your list Bob. But honestly, 19 people in a ring of honor for a team that's never won a championship seems a bit off. Hell, even the 14 seems odd.

Yeah, I would probably have stuck to retiring numbers - Davis, Westphal, Van Arsdale, Adams, Johnson, Barkley, Nash and thrown in Colangelo, McCoy, Fitzsimmons and MacLeod

Even 11 is a lot. Chambers and Majerle were very good players, but certainly not transcendent (Adams and Van Arsdale get a pass because of longevity and their trip to the Finals).

Chambers and KJ were the lynchpins for the re-energized Suns. And Chambers still holds the single-game and season average scoring marks.

On a larger stage, a revision to the collective bargaining agreement I 1988 allowed certain veteran players the right to unrestricted free agency. The conditions dictated that a player had to have played through two contracts and at least seven NBA seasons. Chambers met both requirements and would become the test subject for countless free agents to come. His jump from Seattle to Phoenix pioneered unrestricted free agency in the NBA. It was a huge gamble by Phoenix, one that paid immediate dividends.

Majerle is one of the most popular players in franchise history, but when you consider his actual achievements, he pales in comparison to somebody like, say, Shawn Marion.
Well, so much for hopes and dreams ...

Forgot to include Hawkins in the retired numbers. He was the first star player here, and gave the Suns some credibility and helped them make it to the playoffs in their second year (adding Silas was huge too)

And I don't deny the significance of Chambers and Majerle, I just think they fall short of where I would draw the line.

Couldn't agree more. I loved Dan when he was here the first time. But his contribution to the Suns organization, as you say, is not in the same ballpark as Marion.

That KJ RoH induction game, was that the one where Tony Delk scored 51 but we still lost?

I think it was the game the Suns were up on the Kings by 20-25 at half, and then scored 9 pts in the third quarter to let them back in the game, which the Kings eventually won.
Well, so much for hopes and dreams ...
