Mitch Lawrence, who has never struck as an "insider" with any real info, is saying we're going after Jay Wright to be head coach. Wright seems as solid and put together as any college coach, and doesn't seem to have the ego or personality of a Pitino or Calipari where he's going to want 15mil a year and total control of everything. Could be a nice fit tho if we're going younger and letting him establish his system and identity the way the Cs (who i'm sure have influenced him) have done with Stevens.

I got the impression several teams will be going after him.

I highly doubt the veracity of that rumor.

It would cost. If we've learned anything during the Sarver era it's that he'll pay for talent on the floor but never in the front office.

Let's assume he is learning lessons as he goes. He isn't a dumb guy, and hopefully he can learn from his mistakes.

See, I can be positive too.

I've actually been waiting for this thread because I saw this on AZCentral.com on Monday:
Suns rookie guard Devin Booker might have left the University of Kentucky early but school remains in session.

Professor Watson is assigning summer reading to Booker. It sounds like Phil Jackson, who Watson admires, but he draws more from John Wooden, his sage “body-will-follow-the-mind” mentor while he played at UCLA.

Watson’s suggested reading is “Letting Go: The Pathway of Surrender,” a book by psychiatrist and spiritual author Dr. David Hawkins that focus on way to releasing negativity.

Booker told Watson he did not read books often.

“He also said he was a great defender earlier in the year,” Watson said. “We know that wasn’t true.”
I can't wait until this idiot is gone. He's telling Booker to read a book about getting rid of negativity, and then in the next breath cracks a joke about his defense.

Why would they all want a robot coach?! ;)
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

Huh? Who has he passed on because he was too expensive on the FO? The problem with Sarver isn't money, it's decision making and the ability to meddle.

I have no doubt we reached out to Wright....I have a lot of doubt he expressed any interest.
“Kobe had said (after the play) I wasn’t hugged enough as a child,” Bell recalled. “My mom kind of found him after the instance and we had beat them and offered him a hug in the bowels of the Phoenix arena. She really feels a part of that story.”

Haha. This seems like an article robot would make up. Watson won't be retained from everything I read...just a place holder.

Everything you read, meaning words, or everything you read, meaning actions/tone?

Has he hired anyone with experience to any FO job?

This is my point. He hasn't even tried going after anyone with experience that would cost. We've never even been in the conversation for elite front office coaches and general managers.

Saying we haven't hired anyone with experience vs saying we were outbid for someone is completely different.

Besides...Jay Wright doesn't have NBA experience, so how is that applicable to the conversation? If we hired him you could say the same thing. I'm not sticking up for Sarver either. He reminds me alot of The Dolphins owner (my fav football team) Stephen Ross, except I like Ross better because he leaves more to the Football guys. He just hires the wrong football guys.

Little from Column A and little from Column B. The AZsports article comes to mind that says their has been minimal convo between him and the hire ups about saying. I just don't see it, but it's more of an opinion on my part I guess. Do you think he stay, Indy?

I am worried he will. I think it is an easy pick. But I really hope they don't because I think he is 3-5 years away, and those 3-5 years need to be spent under a real Xs and Os coach.

Agreed they are different. But not ever trying to get the experienced FO guy tells me something.

I realize Wright is not an experienced NBA coach. There really are not many of them out there. But he does have plenty of experience coaching in a very competitive league. He has been working his way up the ranks for 30 years.

He has no NBA experience at all. How many decent NBA coaches had no NBA experience at all first? Really, I don't know.

I think like anything else, the situation has to be right. Donovan's been fine in OKC with a veteran team and NBA assistants around him. Blatt got fired in Cleveland. Stevens' has been given the time to succeed, but also had a FO with a plan that helped him succeed.
